CHEVRON AWARDS OKAN GGCP DEBOTTLENECKING PROJECT TO NETCO By Adeyemi Raimi A., MNSE – Project Manager As part of the Engineering Service Agreement (ESA) between Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL) and NETCO, Okan Gas Gathering and Compression Platform (GGCP) Debottlenecking Project has been awarded to NETCO by Chevron. The Detailed Engineering Design (DED) Project will be executed by NETCO and PAI Engineering Limited while HSE risk studies will be done by Third party. The Work Authorization for the execution of this project was issued to NETCO on 12th April, 2016. The Administrative Kick-Off Meeting for Okan GGCP Debottlenecking Project was held on 16th May, 2016 at NETCO office, Lagos. After the completion of Milestone 1 deliverables, (viz: Level 3 Resource Loaded Schedule, Master Deliverables Register (MDR) and DRAM), the project Technical Kick-Off took place on 10th June, 2016 with CNL and NETCO-PAI Management and the project management team (PMT) in attendance. Project Background The Detailed Engineering Design (DED) is to debottleneck the dehydration system on Okan Gas Gathering & Compression Platform (GGCP) to handle the additional NAG supply from new drills and the surplus NAG from the Okan Pig Receiver Platform (PRP). The DED is required to provide CNL with a comprehensive engineering design which will enable them to proceed to Procurement and Construction works. Okan field is located offshore within OML-96 in about 25ft of water, 11km into Escravos bay. Okan GGCP currently dehydrates both Associated Gas (AG) and Non Associated Gas (NAG). The AG is from Okan Production Platform while the NAG source is from two NAG wells, OK-33 and OK-72. CNL intends to drill new NAG wells in the Okan field to sustain required NAG production rate. There are three (3) existing compressors at Okan GGCP, each with a design capacity of 55 MMscfd, for a total capacity of 165 MMscfd. The AG is compressed, dehydrated in a Triethylene Glycol (TEG) gas contactor and routed through a 20-inch pipeline to EGP Train 1 slug catcher. The NAG used for gas lifting is routed through the Lift Gas Separator and TEG lift gas contactor (design capacity of 32 MMscfd while the current operating capacity is approx. 57 MMscfd) into the Okan gas lift network.

Figure shows Okan Field Facilities According to reservoir deliverability forecast, there is an envisaged decline in rich gas supply to Escravos Gas Plant (EGP) Train 1. Thus, there is need to increase the Non Associated Gas (NAG) handling capacity of Okan GGCP, enabling it to make up for the AG decline rate. The existing glycol regeneration system designed for 200 MMscfd shall be replaced with a new regeneration system of 320 MMscfd capacity, to allow for increased NAG handling capacity. Apart from the new Okan NAG drills, an additional source of NAG is from a new facility, Okan PRP – which receives NAG from Sonam NWP. Excess NAG from this facility will be routed to Okan GGCP via a new 16-inch pipeline. The project will install this new (16-inch) pipeline and associated equipment required to transport NAG to Okan GGCP.

STEPS TO TAKE TO MINIMIZE THE RISKS: Staircases: Make sure all staircases have firm handrails, adequate lighting, and safety gates if there are small children in the home. Stairways should never be littered with toys, loads, implements or any objects whatsoever. Bathrooms: Secure rugs to avoid slipping and pooling of water on slick surfaces. Make sure showers and bathtubs have safety rails to assist family members, old and young in safely getting in and out. FIRE HAZARDS: Everything from candles to an unattended iron could lead to an accidental fire in your home, but there is a lot you can do to prevent a fire from starting. STEPS TO TAKE TO MINIMIZE THE RISKS: Fire Alarms: Make sure fire alarms are installed on all levels, and regularly check and change the batteries to make sure you'll have adequate warning in the unlikely event of a fire. Candles: Never leave candles unattended or near loose fabric like drapes or throw pillows Appliances and Outlets: Make sure that all appliances are in good working condition and that no cables are frayed.

Don't overload electrical outlets, in fact it's safe practice to unplug small appliances like toasters, microwave machines, etc when not in use. CARBON MONOXIDE: Accidental poisoning due to high levels of carbon monoxide in the home is becoming more common. What makes carbon monoxide so threatening is that it's virtually impossible to detect by smell, sight, or sound.

STEPS TO TAKE TO MINIMIZE THE RISKS: Detectors and Alarms: You can keep your family safe by installing a carbon monoxide detector that will alert you if carbon monoxide reaches dangerous levels in your home.

CHOKING HAZARDS: From a bit of dinner going down the wrong way to a youngster accidentally swallowing a small item, choking is scary. The biggest household choking hazards come from small toys and hard foods that easily block airways, like nuts.

STEPS TO TAKE TO MINIMIZE THE RISKS: Look Around: To keep your home choke-free, regularly inspect toys for loose parts or other items that have rolled under furniture where little hands might easily find them. Keep Dangers out of reach: Be sure to keep small, hard foods like nuts out of reach of children. Ensure kids take time to properly chew their food at the dining table. BATHROOMS: The old rumor that most household accidents happen in the bathroom persists 'because its true. In addition to risk of slipping and falling, the bathroom is also home to chemicals like soaps, makeup, perfumes, bleach, medicine, etc. With so many potential dangers lurking in this one small room, it's crucial to be careful.

STEPS TO TAKE TO MINIMIZE THE RISKS: Medications: Put locks or safety latches on cupboards that contain medications and toiletries. If you have prescribed medications it's wise to keep them in a completely separate place, safely locked where no one but the person who needs them is able to gain access. Slipping: Install grab bars and other supports to help people get in and out of the shower. Conclusion: Keeping your family safe is a full-time job. Paying attention to common threats and taking precautions to avoid injury make the job a little easier.
