DESCRIPTION

• Lately in our English and social studies classes we have been learning about the holocaust, and GA after the Civil War along with it’s economic growth post the war. • In hopes of extending our knowledge we

would like to have the whole 8th grade go on a field trip to Atlanta to the William Bremen Jewish Heritage Museum, and the World of Coca – Cola.

MORNING PREPARATIONS

• On the morning of the field trip, all students, and chaperones attending the trip will need to meet in the commons no later than 6:45 for attendance.

• If your child does not show before the buses leave at 7:00 he/she will be left behind as we can not wait longer for students to show late.

• Students may bring extra items (I.e. electronics – phones, iPod's, portable game systems, headphones.)

TRAVELING INFORMATION

The ride to “The Varsity” will be approximately under 4 hours. Which is 225 miles which is 25 miles below the range allowed.

The drive to the William Bremen Museum is about 2.5 miles, and will take about 11 minutes.

• For lunch, students will be eating at “The Varsity.” A local popular hot dog and burger joint. • Students will need to bring money as they WILL

BUY their own lunch.• Students who would like to bring their own lunch

may as well, but keeping up with it will be their own situation.

• The William Bremen Jewish Heritage Museum will allow students to enhance their learning on the years of the Holocaust and Jews in the present day.• Students can learn about the Holocaust through different forms of media, such as photographs, personal memorabilia, and videotaped interviews with survivors from the metropolitan – Atlanta area.• The students would take a guided tour from a Holocaust trained volunteer to help better understand what had happened, and answer any possible questions there may be from somebody on the tour.

FEES (IN DEPTH) FOR MUSEUM

• Student group rates are $4 per student and $6 per adult for tours booked a month in advance. Teachers and bus drivers are free of charge, as well as one adult chaperone per ten students. Additional adults are $6 each.

• To guarantee your reservation, a nonrefundable scheduling fee of $36 per tour is due at least four weeks before your tour date. This payment may be made online through our secure website, by credit card or by check.

• At the World of Coca – Cola students will be able to learn about the history of coke, the bottling process, and the secret formula vault along with how “coke” tied in with the economic growth of GA after the Civil War.• Hours of operation vary by dates.
