Already renowned for their advanced ergonomic design, BX2 series clinical microscopes now incorporateOlympus' new UIS2 optical system to deliver a wealth of all-round performance improvements. With Plan objectives as standard equipment, they deliver flat, even, high-contrast observation images rightup to the periphery of the field of view, providing a completely new standard of visibility in routine work. Offering high quality and excellent cost performance, BX2 series microscopes make routine tasks quicker, easier, and much more efficient.

The new UIS2 optical system: quicker, easier, more efficient performancefor all routine applications.

Plan objectives for image claritySetting the standard for clinical inspection microscopes ultimatelydepends on image clarity. Olympus' choice of plan objectivesensures bright, clear observation images with excellent flatness andfull compensation for chromatic aberrations.

Improved viewing contrastThe combination of UIS2 objectives with the fully multi-coated UIS2eyepieces (WHN series), gives higher image contrast and a strikingimprovement in overall visibility. Stained specimens show greaterclarity with a whiter background.

Environmentally-friendly UIS2 opticsRecognizing the interdependence of optical excellence and care forthe environment, Olympus makes all UIS2 objectives and WHNeyepieces from lead-free eco-glass. We will continue to seek newways to incorporate this material into optical parts that have glasscomponents.

Ideal color temperature for digital imagingBecause UIS2 optics' color temperature at both the eyepiece andon the CCD surface is closer to natural daylight (5500K), colorreproduction on the monitor matches more closely to what is seenduring observation.

Advanced, high-performance UIS2 optical systemOlympus' principal reason for replacing the popular and wellregarded UIS optical system with its UIS2 successor is to meet amore diverse and demanding range offuture needs. Olympus' infinity-corrected optical system has the tubelens inside the observation tube, whichprevents image deterioration even ifother optical components and items ofequipment are added in the parallelluminous flux. In addition, UIS2 flexibilityprovides greater freedom in systemstructure, even allowing equipment tobe added in two tiers simultaneously.

■ Infinity-corrected opticsInfinity-corrected optics incorporates a parallel luminous fluxalong the light path. Even if a half-mirror (or other components)are inserted into the parallel luminous flux, there is no imageretardation and no deterioration in image clarity.

Durable stage assures consistent operability The BX2 series employs a rackless stage which the X-axis guidedoes not protrude. This means there is nothing for the operator'shand to accidentally strike when replacing a specimen or adjustingfocus, thus avoiding personal injury orspecimen damage. The stage isceramic coated to maximize durabilityand ensure consistently smoothspecimen movement.

Fatigue-free operation with minimum hand movementsThe on/off switch and light intensity adjustment controls are locatedat the front of the unit, so the userscan keep their arms on the table andperform operations with minimal handmovements. The BX45A is equippedwith a hand switch to changeobjectives.

Moving specimens with a singlefingerThe XY handle of the stage is fittedwith a rubber cap for easy, fingertipoperation.

Tilting tube allows better concentration on inspectionsThe BX2 series tilting observation tube lineup (U-CTBI, U-TBI-3, U-TTBI and U-ETBI) is designed to promote comfort and reducefatigue, enabling operators to maintain concentration for longperiods. One model emphasizes highcost efficiency, another offers improvedergonomics derived from detailedresearch into observation posture, andanother presents the observation imagemoving in the same direction as thespecimen. Users can therefore maketheir choices based on purpose andpreference.

Superior cost-efficiency and clinical inspection precision.

Metal construction for maximum rigidityThe microscope bodies are made from aluminum alloy to ensurethe high rigidity needed for consistent performance and long-termdurability.

Compact Y-shape designThe microscope body's compact Y-shape design, only 328mm deep, makes for easy setup even inrestricted spaces.

Front-positioned power switchand intensity adjustment knobThe on/off switch and light intensitycontrol are mounted at the front of theunit. Users can work with minimumhand movements, keeping arms onthe table.

Detachable revolving nosepieceThe detachable revolving nosepieceallows for a quick exchange ofobjectives and makes lens cleaningeasier. Quintuple to septuple versionsavailable.

Fully portableA handle on the back of themicroscope body makes it fullyportable.

Filter cassette providedThe convenient U-FC filter cassetteenables easy access to up to threefilters (ø45mm and under 2.8mmthickness).

Fine movement adjustmentThe removable fine focus handle can be attached on either side, depending on the user’s dominant hand.

Brighter images, with superb resolution/flatness at allmagnificationsPLAPON objectives with wide F.N. combined with the Achromatic-aplanatic condenser U-AAC will deliver excellent resolution and flatnessfrom low to highmagnifications. A dedicated ultra lowmagnification condenser(U-ULC-2) should beused for 1.25X and 2X.

Excellent darkfield effect from low to high magnificationsChoose from the 10X —100X dry darkfield condenser (U-DCD) orthe 20X —100X oil immersion darkfield condenser (U-DCW). * Please consult your nearest Olympus dealer for applicable objectives.

High-contrast, high-resolution imagingHigh contrast phase imaging allows close observation of the cellinterior and of live bacteria. Using UPLFLN-PH or PLN-PH seriesobjectives, phase contrast observation from 4X up to 100X ispossible. With the U-PCD2 condenser, users can view specimensin brightfield or darkfield depending on their chosen combination of

Low-position stage makes changing specimens easyUse of a new illumination system allows the stage to be fixed at only128mm above the desk surface, the lowest position in this class ofmicroscope. Focusing is performed by up/down movement of therevolving nosepiece, so there is no variation in stage height and allspecimens can be changed with the same minimal hand movement.Focusing and stage operations can be done without removing yourhands from the desktop, significantly reducing fatigue.

Specimen observation with low contrastThe condenser’s aperture diaphragm can be shifted to give obliqueillumination. Observation of a thick transparent specimen thusbecomes easier to view due to the addition of shadow effect.

Compliance with multiple applicationsThe 3-position universal condenserallows brightfield, darkfield, phasecontrast, and simple polarizingobservations. Optical components(PH1, PH2, PH3, DFA) and filters (ø32 ND, LBD, IF550) can be easilyattached and inserted into thecondenser turret.

Swing-out condenser for observation overa wide area provides observation at low(1.25X) magnificationThe built-in swing-out condenser allows useof ultra low objectives such as 1.25X and2X. The initial observation covers a widearea, allowing the operator to quicklydetermine any zone needing closer attention.

4X to 100X observations with top lensConsecutive observation from 4X to 100X is now possible with atop lens making it no longer necessary to swing out of the opticalpath.

Convenient range of ergonomic observation tubesIn addition to the general ergonomic observation tube for invertedimage observation, there is another version for erect imageobservation (where the direction of specimen movement matchesthe direction of observation image movement).
