Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. and the sākihiwēwin Foundation invites our corporate partners to support the 18th Annual Keeping the Fires Burning — Manitoba’s largest Indigenous annual event — by joining us on June 13, 2019 to celebrate our province’s Indigenous excellence and culture.

Manaaji’idiwin: “they respect each other” reflects our vision, the spirit and intent of Manitoba’s Numbered Treaties and the promises of Winnipeg’s Indigenous Accord.

There is no better way to demonstrate your company’s commitment to building relationships of understanding, respect and reciprocity within Manitoba’s growing Indigenous community than by celebrating the accomplishments of Indigenous cultural leaders.

Over the past 17 years, Keeping the Fires Burning has honoured 129 First Nations, Metis and Inuit Grandmothers and Grandfathers — all of whom have made a significant contribution to the wellbeing of Indigenous Peoples by safeguarding, nurturing and transmitting Indigenous cultural languages, knowledges and traditions.

Collectively, our Knowledge Keepers are the holders of our history, values, laws and world views. It is through their dedication to preserving our knowledge systems that we can retrace our steps back to knowing who we are as peoples. Today, our vibrant cultures also serve as important catalysts, not only for transforming the lives of Indigenous peoples, but for bringing all people together in the spirit of unity sharing and greater understanding.

On June 13, 2019, another eight individuals will be inducted into the Circle of Honour. These Knowledge Keepers will be selected by Manitoba’s Indigenous Representative Organizations including, the Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, Manitoba Metis Federation, Southern Chiefs’ Organization, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak, Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg, Manitoba Inuit Association, Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre and Ka Ni Kanichihk.

Your generous support through sponsorship of this annual Indigenous cultural event is an important step towards reconciliation, and will be acknowledged throughout the evening and in all of Ka Ni Kanichihk’s publications and social media advertising supports, including Facebook and Twitter. We look forward to your response.
