    HISTORY

    1818-1905 Johann Bunge founds Bunge and Co. in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as an

    import/export trading firm. Later it is relocated to Antwerp, Belgium and it goes on to

    become one of the worlds leading commodities traders

    1905-1935 Bunge expands into Brazil and North America and diversifies into wheat milling

    business. It diversifies further into cottonseed processing

    1935-1967 Bunge builds its first grain handling facility in Minnesota; enters the Brazilian

    fertilizer and soyabean export market; consolidates its position in North America by

    acquiring grain elevators

    1967-1985 Bunge builds on its soy processing and exporting business in North America. It

    acquires Lauhoff Grain Company and becomes the worlds largest corn dry miller

  • 1985-1997 Bunge wins Presidential World Without Hunger Award for its efforts to

    combat hunger with famine relief products; major expansion drives undertaken in South

    America

    1997-2001 Bunge moves its headquarters to White Plains, opens office in China and soon

    becomes the largest importer of soy complex commodities in the region. In 2001, it goes

    public on NYSE

    2002 Bunge acquires Cereol and becomes the worlds largest soy processor and supplier of

    bottled oil

    2003-date Bunge acquires Hindustan Levers edible oils and fats business; expands into

    Turkey and invests in food and agribusiness in Russia; acquires German margarine producer

    Walter Rau; acquires Petrobras fertilizer operations in Argentina; adds 5 new sugarcane

    mills to its 3 existing ones in Brazil; expands into complementary value chains

    2004 Bunge improves its geographic balance and positions itself for growth in the

    consumer , meat production markets of eastern europe. The company opens a new port in

    Turkey, begins a construction ofport in Latvia and invests in food products and agribusiness

    in Poland, Russia and Ukraine

    2005 Company purchases iits first soyabean crushing and refining plant in China, located

    port city of Rizhao. Bunge forms a biodiesel plant next to Mannheim in Germany.

    2006- Bunge opens a soyabean processing plant in the port of Bilbao in in Spain and on oil

    packaging plant in Texas

    2008- Acquires German Margarine producer Walter rau and expands its sugar business by

    adding Tate and Lyles trading arm

    2009 Bunge continued to strengthen its core business. It begins construction of export

    terminal in the US Pacific Northwest and a soyabean producing plant in Vietnam

    2010 Bunge further expands its business into complementary value chains by adding 5 new

    sugarcane mills to its existing three mills in Brazil. Bunge now operates a large scale sugar

    and bio energy business capable of producing various sugar and ethanol products

    Agribusiness Purchase grain and oilseeds from farmers; store, transport and sell raw

    commodities to end customers in domestic and export markets; process oilseeds into

    protein mean and crude vegetable oil; provide financialservices, risk management and

    logistics services to end consumers.

    Sugar and Bioenergy Bunge entered the global sugar market as a trader in 2006, and has

    since built a strong position as a producer and marketer of sugar and ethanol.

    Food and Ingredients Food & Ingredients is comprised of two businesses - edible oils and

    milling. The edible oils business produces specialty oils and fats, margarines, mayonnaise,

    shortenings and whipped toppings.The milling business creates milled wheat, corn and rice

    products.

    Fertilizers Bunge sells blended NPK (nitrogen, phosphate and potassium) fertilizer

    formulas, mixed nutrients and liquid fertilizer products to farmers and distributors in South

    America.

    India is a growth market for edible oil. Bunge operates oilseed processing, refining and

    packaging plants and sells retail and commercial products including Dalda, Masterline

    and Chambal. In 2012, Bunge India acquired the edible oils and fats business of Amrit

    Banaspati, whose portfolio of brands includes Amrit, Bansari, Ginni, Merrigold and

    Sunehri Teer, and the rights to the vanaspati brand, Gagan

    Bunge India eyes 20 per cent growth; re-launches Gagan Vanaspati : Bunge India today said

    it is eyeing 20 per cent growth in its Vanaspati business to about Rs 2,400 crore as it re-

    launches heritage brand 'Gagan Vanaspati', fortified with Vitamin A and D and comes with

    zero cholesterol.

    Bunge India is resurrecting the Lotus brand of palm oil, 10 years after acquiring it along with

    the more popular Dalda, from Hindustan Unilever. Lotus is now being soft-launched for

    selling packaged palm oil in the Indian market for institutional clients in select regions and

    also as a retail brand for the southern market.

    Oil made from algae, a novel innovation Bunge recently began commercial production at

    their renewable oils plant in Brazil, in a joint venture with micro algae solutions company

    Solazyme. Tailored, sustainable oils are produced for a variety of uses.

    Exceeding its environmental goals, Bunge has set up a 3-step agenda to reduce its water,

    emissions and waste footprints.

    Bunge was one of 174 Global 500 companies that participated in the 2014 Carbon Disclosure

    Project (CDP) Global Water Report. It is the third year Bunge has voluntarily provided the

    CDP with information on our global water usage, our approach to water management and

    our engagement with stakeholders in the agribusiness and food production chain

    Bunge North America announced in August 2015, an $11.32 million expansion of its Market

    Street Northeast plant of North America, that will create 14 new jobs.
