TnT Paranormal Happenings
2016 has been off to a rough start for pop culture, the stock market, and the nations weather.
We have seen the deaths of some musical greats such as David Bowie, Glenn Fry, and
Lemmy Kilmister. We always learned of deaths of great actors such as Alan Rickman and
Dan Haggerty. The stock market has been up, but mostly down since the start of the year.
Then the east coast was socked with between 20 to 40” of snow over a single weekend.
Let’s hope the rest of 2016 picks up.
For TnT Paranormal it is looking up for sure. We have added 2 lectures for new libraries in
the Orlando area in March, investigations at some very interesting haunted locations, and
our founder Melissa Tanner will be speaking at some conferences this year. We look
forward to this and more.
We have a lot of interesting articles in February 2016 issue, including: on Religion and the
Paranormal/Supernatural, Beauvoir, Ghostark, and two interviews: Jacque Bowling,
Clairvoyant Intuitive Medium, and Jen Chichester founder, lead investigator, and
case manager of Grand Rapids Paranormal Investigation. If you are a budding author,
or even an experienced one and would love to have your article in our newsletter, please let
us know.
We are always on the lookout for new cases and places to investigate, so please keep us in
mind if you hear of anything. To learn more about us you can go to our website, group page
on FaceBook, Team page on Facebook, or Twitter (@TnTParanormal).

Paranormal “U”
Religion and the Paranormal and/or Supernatural
by Jenni Garcia, TnT Paranormal InvestigatorsLLC - IL Chapter
Webster’s dictionary defines Religion as:
-the service and worship of God or the supernatural
-commitment of devotion to religious faith or observance
-a personalized set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs and practices
-a cause: principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
Supernatural as:
-of or relating to an order of existence beyond the visible, observable universe especially of or relating to God or a god, demigod, spirit
or devil
-departing from what is normal especially so as to appear to transcend the laws of nature
-attributed to an invisible agent (ghost or spirit)
Jack David Eller, Cultural Anthropology: Global Forces, Local Lives, 2nd edition 2013 defines religion as such; Religion is the part of any culture
that involves ideas, actions, objects, and/or institutions relating to non-human and/or super-human beings, forces, and/or ideals with which
humans enter into social relationships.
By definition, religion in itself, is supernatural thus here in lies the question of the relationship between religion and the supernatural. With the
increased popularity of “ghost hunting” shows, paranormal experiences are no longer as taboo to discuss as in the past. That said, not all
religions are the same in respect to the potential of a ghostly encounter.
Christianity as a whole is split on this issue. Catholic doctrines teach of a place between heaven and hell called purgatory or limbo where souls
temporarily reside before moving on to their final destination. This “in between time” can be used to reconcile the existence of ghosts, while not
specifically teaching about the existence of them. Other branches of Christianity, do not teach of this “in between time”, upon death the soul
goes directly to heaven or hell.
The most widely accepted belief, within Islam, is that the spirit of a person remains in the proximity of the physical body until the time of
judgement. While as a whole, Islam does not teach the existence of ghosts or reincarnation, Islam does teach of the existence of the jinn.
According to Religion and Folk Cosmology, by El-Sayed El-Aswad, some Muslims believe that two types of jinn exist. The evil jinn that is not
human in origin and one that was of human origin. The latter is believed to be a result of an unnatural death- killed, having their life abruptly cut
short, thus left to wander the earth where the physical body lived. A Muslim sect, known as the Sufi, do believe in reincarnation.
Hindu teachings describe humans as having two bodies and when a life ends prematurely, such as in tragedy, the person (ghost) will remain in

Religion and the Paranormal/Supernatural
an ethereal state until the time of the life is complete. At that time the transition in to an entirely new body- reincarnation will occur. The time
spent between incarnation can be a time of great suffering for the ghost as they do not have a physical body through which they can interact in
the physical world. It is believed the ghost retains its senses and physical desires, however without the physical body, the ghost is unable to
satisfy those desires. The soul will continue this cycle of birth and rebirth till it is free of all earthly and physical desires as that ends the cycle
and consequently ends the suffering. Hindu beliefs also teach that we are surrounded by spirit entities existing in the ether that encompasses
everything. Ether, also called akasha, can be equated to energy or spirit. The Akashic records are believed to contain a complete record of
every event, energy imprint, throughout time. These records can be, accessed by those that can use their third eye.
In Chinese thought, the world is populated by a multitude of spirits, both good and evil. Evil spirits are believed to avoid light, thus many rituals
and practices include fire and light. Not all spirits are evil, some are just unhappy. A spirit may be unhappy because of a bad death, lack of
descendants to perform the rituals, thus becomes a ghost. Ghosts may attack the living to get their needs met or at least draw attention to
their plight. The seventh month of the Chinese lunar year is called Ghost month and the 15th day being the ghost day is when the most
attention is payed to them.

This is a very small window in to the subject of how different religions view the paranormal/supernatural and by no means covers the spectrum.

TnT Paranormal Asks……
This month we are treating our readers with two interviews for TnT Paranormal Asks. We hope you enjoy!!!
Jacque Bowling
Jacque Bowling is a natural born Clairvoyant Intuitive Medium. She has always worked and dealt with Spirits, became a professional reader for
the public seven years ago in 2009. Having a multitude of Spiritual gifts, her focus is on Mediumship, Channeling, Clairsentience, Clairaudience,
Claircognizance. Some of the accomplishments and training that Jacque has received are:
• Honored as a Certified Professional Ethical Psychic Certificate in honor of her work.
• FloraSage Ethical Spiritual Training
• Spending a week at Stansted Hall in Essex County England studying an Intensive week of Advance Mediumship course with some of
England’s top Mediums in the Spiritualist Church
• Working with many individuals, intimate groups and the paranormal community.
At this Moment Jacque has nothing on her schedule. She is always excited to work with people to help heal, guide and give insight to the other
side of the Veil.
1) Tell our readers a little bit about you and the role you serve in the field of the paranormal?
My name is Jacque Bowling. I grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and still live in the area with my family. I grew up in a fairly normal household.
We were all a bit strange but nothing out of the ordinary. I have three children, mostly grown and one 4 year old grandson. I am upbeat for
the most part, yet struggle daily with several autoimmune arthritis diseases. I sometimes have thought that some of the most sensitive
people in the world deal with a chronic illness. Not the best thing in the world, but I cope. I am a firm believer in being positive about life.
There is mystery in this world we can’t answer, but I always like to try to find one. So tenacious is a good word for me. My Children are all
sensitive so that gift has been passed down. I have tried to educate them in how to control and work with their gifts so things don’t scare
them like they did me. I also work with people who are trying to develop their gifts.
The role I serve in the paranormal field is as a natural Clairvoyant Intuitive Medium, Grief Counselor and Teacher. I work individuals and
groups of people to try and communicate with the other side. With friends, Relatives and other Spirits. I have worked with several
paranormal groups as a “Pre Seer”, meaning the two leaders of the investigation who know the background of the place will have me do a
remote viewing ,psychic investigation to see if what I get matches up with what they already know about the location. I have been tested
multiple times and from what I have been told I have a 90% success rate in the information of the project. I really enjoy doing those.
2) How long have you been interested in the paranormal and what sparked that interest?
I used to avoid anything paranormal! I knew it was all so real, everything I saw and felt but it was scary. I enjoyed watching a few of the
ghost investigation shows about 10years ago, but that was about it.
There was constant communication with Spirit though. There were several things that sparked my interest, but living where I

do there weren’t many people who talked about it and the ones that did seemed super weird. Ha!
Just a few years ago I went to my first paranormal conference and I fell into a wonderful group of people that helped me feel like I wasn’t
that weird and found a community.
3) What makes you and/or your team different from others in the field?
Wish I had a good answer considering I don’t have a team but the team would be FUN!! Seriously FUN.
4) What do you believe is the most common mistake paranormal investigators make? How can they correct that mistake?
I find the most common mistake is EGO! Some teams I have met are all about fame and how what they do is the most important. Putting
down others work and findings. They go into investigations insisting they found SOMETHING even if they didn’t. How can they correct that
mistake? Relax. They don’t have to know everything. I tell clients often that I don’t understand how being an Intuitive Medium works. Oh, I
have certain ideas about energy but how does it really work? No clue.
5) In your career in the paranormal have you ever had someone bring up a phenomenon or unusual experience that you had never
heard of before?
Yes.
6) Any advice for a new investigator getting into the field of the paranormal?
Your Ego has no business being a part of the investigation. Remember the Spirits you are trying to get in contact with were human at one
time. Go into it with an open mind, remember to have fun. Learn as much as you can from others. If someone is investigating in a way you
have never seen don’t assume it is wrong, ask them about it. Also, sometimes a fart is just a fart. It isn’t always a Spirit.
7) What do you believe is the best tool a paranormal investigator can use during an investigation?
An open mind. I don’t know much about all of the tools, but simple is best. I enjoy seeing all the gadgets people have, but sometimes a
flashlight, pen, recorder, simple cameras and maybe an object for them to move is all you need.
8) What is your favorite place/location to investigate?
I did a session at Arthur Findlay College, which is a Spiritualist College in Stansted, Essex, UK. That was probably my favorite.
The list of places I would like to investigate seems a bit small, yet I do have a list.
1)Pennhurst Asylum 2) The Witch House, Salem Mass. 3) The Tombs in London, 4) The Stanley in Colorado and a few local places in the
Oklahoma Area.
9) Have you ever had a paranormal experience that “changed” you in some way? Either for the positive or the negative.
Many. I have been dealing with the paranormal since I was a baby. Obviously at first I didn’t understand the difference of what was really
happening and what was paranormal. I do remember seeing and feeling things that scared me a bit, but I was under a lot of stress. I had
major surgery when I was 3 years old to correct my feet and legs. That was 1973. I had the first real memory of a visitation in the hospital of

a beautiful woman in White came over my bed and told me everything will be okay. She has come to me in times of extreme stress. I have
always been able to remember faces and people I have met, she was someone I had never seen at the hospital before.
There was always Spirits in and out of the house I grew up in in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It really was a nice house built in the 1970’s middle class
neighborhood. Nothing weird or scary. When my family talks about the house everyone says how cozy and wonderful it felt. I always felt
stressed and frightened. I was a latch key kid, but there would always be a man in the backyard staring at me. I used to walk and talk in my
sleep too. I asked the woman who was my best friend from 7th-12th a couple of years ago if she could tell me anything that might have
happened when we were together. She is sensitive as well.
She informed me I would sit up in the middle of the night and start screaming then talk to people who she couldn’t see about places and
things that had happened and things that could happen. She informed me that some of the things I had talked about happening came true. I
would blank out at times when we were together with friends and say something about someone’s grandparents, totally freak them out.
Maybe because I have always been this way I’ve not been changed exactly, more as a slow growth. I also know it has affected me both
positive and negative.
I wouldn’t change a thing.
10) How can our readers contact you to learn more about you and the work you do in the field of the paranormal?
I would love that. I always feel so honored that people trust me enough to channel for them.
My website is www.jacquebowling.com. I am also on Facebook at Clairvoyant/ Medium Jacque Bowling.
Thank you for asking me to do this for you. I am excited at how much you all bring information to others and help grow this amazingly
diverse community.
Jen Chichester
Jen Chichester is founder, lead investigator, and case manager of Grand Rapids Paranormal Investigation, based in her hometown of Grand
Rapids, Michigan. She holds B.A.s in English and Psychology from Aquinas College and is currently pursuing her M.A. in English at Grand
Valley State University. Aside from her work in the paranormal, she is a writer of academic, prose, and poetic pieces. Her Master’s thesis paper
is on 20th century depictions of “madness” and psychiatric care in American and British literature. She lives with her two cats, ferret, and no
ghosts.
1) Tell our readers a little bit about you and the role you serve in the field of the paranormal?
I am the founder of Grand Rapids Paranormal Investigation, a team whose methods are based on providing the best scientific explanations
possible for seemingly illogical phenomena. We either reject or fail to reject a proposed hypothesis. We serve the local community, placing
emphasis on home investigations.

Bumps in the Night!!!! February 2016 - Issue No. 65
TnT Paranormal Asks ……
2) How long have you been interested in the paranormal and what sparked that interest?
I have had an interest in the paranormal since childhood. I had several inexplicable experiences that, for many years, kept me mum on the
subject. As a college student at Aquinas, I had a few more experiences, which opened me up to speaking with peers and even a few
professors about phenomena they experienced at the school. That led me to found the team with a friend and fellow student. That, and my
love for the budding paranormal shows coming out at that time...
3) What makes you and/or your team different from others in the field?
We value diversity. Even among our teammates, we have religious and non-religious, skeptics and believers, emotionally-based and
logically-based thinkers. Some of us straddle those fences. We live in a diverse area and know that our clientele are simply trying to find
answers to things they cannot explain. Some of us have had experiences in our own homes and get it. However, since we are diverse, we
temper belief with a degree of open-minded skepticism, and we back up our claims with proof - or, in some cases, failure to prove. We stick
by our methods and try to show all clients and others who work in the field the same dignity and respect we ask for ourselves. Oh, and we
don’t charge! (“How much does it cost?” is a common question from clients.)
4) What do you believe is the most common mistake paranormal investigators make? How can they correct that mistake?
There are many, and, as with everything in life, being an investigator is a constant learning curve. One common mistake is that we all have
a tendency to become territorial. Arguably, this is an innately human characteristic, but in our field, it hinders, not helps, in terms of
development. If we want to build credibility, we must do so through solidarity. Networking with like-minded individuals and teams is
essential, and sharing your share-able (i.e., information you’ve been given the privilege of sharing via the client) data and locations is a
great way to build validity in this often-perceived “un-scientific” field.
5) In your career in the paranormal have you ever had someone bring up a phenomenon or unusual experience that you had never
heard of before?
Absolutely! Every case brings new, fascinating claims. There was one in particular involving the placement of dog kibble that was striking.
6) Any advice for a new investigator getting into the field of the paranormal?
1. Don’t assume you know everything the further in you get.
2. Always ask permission to investigate, and always secure signed consent forms from clients.
3. Learn from those who have been in the field awhile; network, network, network!
4. Develop a solid mission statement if you’re founding a team and bring in others who demonstrate your objectives.
5. Don’t be territorial.
6. Do be open to new ideas, experiences, and beliefs.
7. Whatever you do, don’t run. And don’t scream. It looks a tad silly on video.
7) What do you believe is the best tool a paranormal investigator can use during an investigation?
Their brain! Camcorders and voice recorders are great and can produce compelling evidence, but nothing compares to the power of the
human mind. Use that first; everything else is your back-up.

Bumps in the Night!!!! February 2016 - Issue No. 65
TnT Paranormal Asks ……
8) What is your favorite place/location to investigate?
Hell’s Bridge in Algoma Township, Michigan. It’s our most beloved, most frequented stomping ground, and we have trained all new
members there in times of warmer weather. Sadly, it seems that our talk of the location, coupled with publications of others, have led to it
becoming a hotbed of totally human activity. I want to strongly encourage those who visit this, or any, location to respect the land and the
people who live on or near it.
9) Have you ever had a paranormal experience that “changed” you in some way? Either for the positive or the negative.
I am not entirely sure how much my experiences have changed me, but I feel as though they have encouraged me to keep an open mind
when listening to the stories of others. What I have to relate might seem completely unbelievable to anyone else, but I was there to
experience it. I have to remember that others probably feel the same way.
10) How can our readers contact you to learn more about you and the work you do in the field of the paranormal?

The following question(s) was/were submitted by our readers, by our online subscribers, or at events.
How would you handle an investigation when dealing with a case where a different religion other than Christianity is involved?
We always approach the case based on the needs of the client. We would do our best to address their religious concerns and questions. We
have members and affiliations with others in the field from various religions. If we didn’t have a member of the same religion as the client we
would reach out to others to be able to address the clients needs.

Famous Haunts
Nestled in Biloxi, MS, at the edge of the Gulf of Mexico, is a historic location that not only is steeped in history and lore, but also infested with
paranormal activity. The location is called Beauvoir and it was the last home of Jefferson Davis. Beauvoir was used by Jefferson Davis as the
location of his retirement and post Civil War writing.
Beauvoir was built between 1848 and 1852 by wealthy plantation owner James Brown. The house was originally built as a summer home for
the Brown family; James and his wife had 13 children. At that time they named the house Orange Grove, due to the Satsuma Oranges that
were raised on the property. The Brown’s owned the house until 1873 when they were forced to sell to pay late taxes on James’ estate. Shortly
afterward the property was purchased by Sarah Dorsey.
Sarah loved the views from front porch and would often say “Oh my, what a beautiful view”. At one point she said “Beauvoir”, which is French
for beautiful view. From that moment on the location was named Beauvoir.
In 1877, Jefferson Davis was looking for a location to write his books and papers. He came across the property and approached Mrs. Dorsey
and explained what he wanted to do. She agreed to let him stay in one of the pavilion homes and he agreed to pay her rent. Over time he
approached her to purchase the property and started making payments to her. Mrs. Dorsey died just six months into the purchase arrangement
and much to Mr. Davis’ surprise, Mrs Dorsey had willed the property to him. In 1889, Mr. Davis died and left property to his daughter.
In 1898 the Davis estate sold the property to the Mississippi Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans with two stipulations: 1) that the
property be used as a Confederate Veterans Home and that veterans or their widows could live there rent free (which it remained until 1957
when the last of the widows were transferred to other facilities); and 2) that upon it’s sale it be used as a memorial to Jefferson Dais and
Confederate Soldiers…which it remains as this day.
The property boasts the original home, two pavilion homes, the museum, a rose garden, a cemetery, and up until recently a small animal farm.
The location is used for events, weddings, conferences, and has a functioning museum.
In 2005 the property took a huge blow when it took a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina. The house, pavilions, the entry archway, and other parts
of the property were highly damaged. Due to hardwork, dedication, and luck the property has been able to be restored and original artifacts
where located and returned to the museum.
Over the last couple of years several paranormal teams, the primary being SPARS out of MS, have investigated the location and have gathered
a lot of data. Some of which supports the claims of the paranormal. In 2015 our founders, Melissa and Tracey Tanner, had the pleasure of
investigating the location. The property will be used at the site for the 2016 Gulf Coast Paranormal Conference.
