Warm-up Questions What are some
statements, that when said to someone, would be considered bullying? Have you ever said
these things? Were they said to you?
Besides verbal bullying, what other types of bullying are there?
What would you do, or have you done, to avoid being bullied?
Who could you talk to if you feel you are being bullied?
How do you think bullying affects a person? Do you think those
affects are short-term, long-term, or both?
Words to know… Bullying – a person is a
target, repeatedly and over time, to negative actions by one or more
Bystander – someone who is present but not involved in what is going on
Cyberbullying – being mean to others by sending or posting harmful material via Internet or other digital devices
More words to know… Direct bullying – seen
and felt immediately such as hitting, kicking, threatening or degrading comments
Exclusion bullying – leaving someone out intentionally, ignoring them or making them feel unwelcomed
Indirect bullying – harms one’s social reputation and/or causes humiliation i.e. spreading rumors, name-calling
