TRUST – Defined Trust means having or placing confidence or a

firm belief in the honesty, integrity, dependability or power of someone or something.

Trust in respite care should be: 1. based on mutual respect

2. co-existing with two critical factors:- Vulnerability- Motivation to serve others3. Set on a foundation of SIX FUNDAMENTAL PERSONAL and CORPORATE VALUES

SIX CORE VALUES OF RESPITE TRUST Compassion (mercy) –

having a deep feeling of sharing in the suffering of another, along with a desire to provide aid or show mercy in practical ways

Communication - the ability to exchange thoughts, messages and information through speech, non-verbal and/or written methods

Commitment - an attitude of pledging oneself to a position and a willingness to be bound emotionally and intellectually to some course of action

Competency - the state or condition of being properly or well qualified and adequate for the purpose at hand 

Consistency - manifesting behavior traits that remain continually unchanged and in keeping with the identified needs and expectations

Character - possessing a combination of moral and ethical qualities and features that distinguish oneself from others in terms of integrity, strength and fortitude
