Roma Mitchel Commonwealth Law Courts AustraliaClient Hassell

Aurecon was commissioned to provide total engineering services for the development, which needed to reflect the judges’ desire for a building filled with natural light as a symbol of justice. The considered and carefully coordinated design, planning and construction of the Law Courts created an instantly recognisable landmark building for the city of Adelaide.

This challenging project required the construction of an eleven storey building, comprising three central elements: the main tower with the courtrooms in the lower levels and judges’ chambers on the upper floors, a smaller tower to accommodate court staff, and the distinctive Opal Building, home to seven court rooms including the High Court and a dedicated indigenous court.

Features include a heat reclamation system, air cooled chillers with evaporative precooling, a state of the art building management system, lighting controls, rainwater recovery and reuse, solar hot water, photovoltaic cells for energy generation and carefully selected materials to minimise embodied energy. With crafted sandstone, timber veneer finishes and extensive natural lighting, the project has succeeded in creating an ambience ideally suited to the highest court in Australia.

Nedbank Phase II South AfricaClient Nedbank

The Nedbank Phase II building was the first in South Africa to achieve a Green Star rating, being awarded a 4 Star Green Star design and as-built rating. Phase II was an extension to Nedbank’s 63 000 square metre corporate head office. It consists of 44 000 square metres of additional office space over nine floors.

Aurecon was appointed to carry out the design, documentation and construction monitoring of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) installation for the entire development and specialist modelling for the Green Star submission of Phase II.

Shanghai Tower ChinaClient Shanghai Tower Construction and Development Co Ltd

At 632 metres, the Shanghai Tower will become China’s tallest structure and the centrepiece of the Shanghai skyline. With a distinctive helix-like façade, it will also become the world’s tallest double skin building.

Aurecon was engaged to provide engineering design for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services.

This involved integrating services design with environmentally sustainable design objectives, the structural framework and varying surface geometry. To achieve this, we undertook extensive analysis to address the building’s complex design issues.

Aurecon also provided facade engineering and extensive building science services.

Global success storiesOur expertise and industry knowledge have been built on projects around the globe, allowing our teams to develop detailed localised knowledge of the 80 plus countries in which we have worked.

Adelaide Oval RedevelopmentAustraliaClient Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority

The Adelaide Oval Redevelopment will transform Adelaide Oval into a 21st century stadium providing a unique 50 000 person facility to host cricket, AFL and other major events. The project includes the construction of a new 15 000 person southern stand, an 18 000 person eastern stand and new entry plaza, as well as basement car parking and indoor training facilities.

Aurecon are providing a range of building services expertise across electrical, communications, security, mechanical, sustainability, hydraulics and fire, acoustics and wind engineering. The scope of work includes new private high voltage infrastructure, new central thermal plant, extensive communications and outside broadcast infrastructure, specialist lighting for stadium branding, club spaces and other public areas, and escalators and lifts to support large scale people and goods movement.

Madinat Jumeirah Resort United Arab EmiratesClient Jumeirah International

Aurecon provided building services for the internationally acclaimed Madinat Jumeirah Resort in Dubai. The flagship development provides world class accommodation and services catering to, in particular, international tourists.

To satisfy our client’s need for high quality building services that are easy and efficient to manage and maintain, Aurecon investigated various alternative technologies and systems for distribution, heating and cooling. We were also responsible for the overall fire engineering design of the development, encompassing the passive safety for the development as a whole as well as the individual buildings.

Aurecon provided services including planning, design and construction supervision of building wet services, passive and active fire protection systems, civil infrastructure and structures, gas storage and reticulation, road works, water canals, bridges, marine works and studies.

Equinix Data Centre SY3AustraliaClient Equinix

Aurecon provided fast track design and construction consultancy services for Equinix SY3, a colocation data centre in Sydney. Delivered on budget and to deadline, this mission critical facility supports the expanding internet, telecommunications and data markets.

Associated building services include transformers, static UPS, diesel generators, chillers, AHUs and CRAC units. Extensive space planning was required to optimise use of the existing building envelope, minimise installation costs and provide suitable maintenance access.

The design Power Utilisation Effectiveness (PUE) exceeded the client brief. The module size of the building services plant ensured the efficient operation of plant and design load that suited staged load growth. The total design was delivered using Revit, a 3D computer aided design (CAD) package, to demonstrate coordination and fit of all equipment, and provide client understanding and confidence in the solution.
