As Director of Better Living Residential, building is my life and passion. I really enjoy my direct relationship with all stakeholders, suppliers, consultants, sub-contractors and most importantly, our clients. Building a new home is a massive project to undertake, and I take great pride in ensuring our clients have a genuinely exciting experience, which is what building a new home should be.

One of our greatest strengths is the ability to listen to our clients and provide a solution based on their needs to achieve a positive outcome. I like to think we go the extra mile and quite often it’s the little things that make the difference.

Site Visit We’ll meet on your property to establish the best possible custom home design to suit your land.

Concept Design We provide a customised floor plan with a price estimate based on your requirements.

1. Soil Test & Feature Survey We perform all necessary site investigations and prepare a formal tender.

2. Preliminary Tender We present this to you complete with all relevant site report details, pricing, council compliance and detailed design drawings.

3. Working Drawings Once the tender is agreed upon, we proceed to a full set of plans.

4. Colour Selections Our professional interior designer will help you choose your style and select all your fittings, fixtures & colour options.

5. Contracts We prepare your Master Builders contracts to sign, with all the relevant details required to build your home.

6. Pre-Construction We apply for building permits and home owners warranty insurance.

7. Demolition We can arrange a demolition of the existing dwelling, if applicable.

Construction

We start building! We usually allow up to six months for a single storey home and up to 12 months for a custom double storey home.

As an alternative to our Design & Build option, you can choose from New Home range — tried and tested designs distilled from our many years of experience. All of our pre-existing home designs have the built-in flexibility to be modified to suit your needs.

Frequently asked questions.

Can I choose any home design in the Better Living Group range? Yes, we offer a range of architect designed luxury and prestige homes that can also be customised to suit your requirements.

Can I inspect my home under construction?We schedule regular site meetings with our construction team on site while building your custom home.

Does Better Living Group do knock down rebuilds?Yes, in fact this is our speciality and currently represents the majority of projects. We are well placed to assist and advise in all areas to demolish an old home then design and build a brand new home in its place.

Can I customise my luxury home design?Absolutely. Customisation is our speciality, and your choice of interior and exterior fittings is almost limitless. We work in collaboration with you to fulfil your individual requirements and to build your ideal custom home.

I have a sloping site. Are you able to help me with a design?Yes. In fact we find that people with more difficult designs choose us. We have years of experience building homes on sloping sites.

Does Better Living Group build in my area? We build new custom and prestige homes throughout metropolitan Melbourne.

Why do standard inclusions vary so much between builders?Many custom home builders offer their homes at the cheapest possible price with only limited inclusions.

Do you have a specification/inclusions list?Yes, we can provide a comprehensive inclusion list for our custom and luxury homes. Ask about our impressive Domain Complete Range.

How long do you take to build a custom home?Construction times range upwards from about 24 weeks, depending on the build’s size and complexity.

How long before you can start building my home?Once all the council approvals are in place and you have completed your selections, we will be on-site ready to build your custom home within three to four months of your initial deposit.

What about prices and site costs?All of our custom homes are unique, and all of our clients have different budgets, requirements and blocks of land. As a result there is no standard cost – we will supply a quote upon application.

Can I have a fixed price?Yes, our contracts are fixed price. With this type of contract, only your choices can change the price.

Is there a follow up after handover?Yes – we want to make sure you are completely satisfied. After three months our maintenance coordinator will visit your new home to conduct an overall inspection and to follow up on any matters that need addressing.

How do I choose the right builder?You want to make sure that you are dealing with a builder who has a good reputation and will look after your interests. Make sure they are licensed and have been around for a number of years, and check that they have done similar type of work before. It’s also a good idea to speak to their clients and read testimonials.
