OBJECTIVES & SCOPE: Methamorphosis is a synonymous of change, transformation and evolution. This project aims to change waste management, reducing energy consumption and producing high quality biomethane as vehicle fuel, mitigating climate change and promoting sustainable mobility. New processes will be implemented: UMBRELLA (AnMBR: Anaerobic MBR + ELAN: Autotrophic Nitrogen Removal + ABAD: Biogas upgrading based on water absorportion) in a municipal solid waste plant

Location • Existing plant: Porgaporcs (Ecobiogás)

• Located 10km from road A2. 2km away from Vila-sana, 35km away from Lleida and 103km from Centro Técnico SEAT.

• 55 t/day waste (60% pig slurry + 40% industrial agro-food waste)

• Current treatment capacity : 12.930t/a pig slurry + 7.350t/a organic waste.

• Biogas production: 170Nm3/h (1.360.000 Nm3/year)

• Biogas use : Electricity generation and corn drying (from september to december).

• Posibility to increase biogas production.

OBJETIVES • Enable and ensure reopening manure treatment plants through

adaptation and optimization technologies "upgrading" in order to

reduce current environmental impacts and produce biomethane to be used by vehicles.

Ecoparc 2. Current system Anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction from municipal solid waste in 3 anaerobic digesters, with a biogas pruduction of 8,5·106 m3 (CH4 55-65%). Biogas is consumed in-situ, in 4 cogeneration engines (capacity 1MW/unit).

Ecoparc 2. Current system Leachates from the digester are dewatered (pressed and centrifuged). Solid fraction is sent to composting, and liquid fraction is sent to the

wastewater treatment plant.

The wastewater treatment plant = denitrification tank + 2 nitrification tanks + final post denitrification (metanol addition).

Biomass separation by means of ultrafiltration. → High energy and chemicals consumption.
