I would like to extend a warm welcome to all our new families in our
Reception and Nursery Classes. I hope that your children enjoyed their Stay and Play sessions this week and will be very happy at our school!
Welcome back to all our existing families— It is so lovely to have every-one back at last … I do hope that this year is a more settled one than
last year! We shall certainly be doing our utmost to keep everyone safe
and ensuring that all children have a great time enjoying their learning.
Welcome back.
Goodbye and Hello. At the end of last term, we said goodbye to four members of staff: Mrs Cook
(Nursery) and Mrs Long (MSA) who both retired after very long associations with the school; and Mr Turner (Forest Schools) and Miss Santos Gonzalez
(Nursery) who have moved onto pastures new. I would like to thank them all
for their hard work at the school.
We have a new member of our school community though… Meet Ted our
new therapy dog (in training)! Ted is still a puppy so he won’t be completing therapy work with children until he has passed the “nippy” and “jumping”
phase but he is coming into school most days so that he is familiarised with the school building, staff and the noises around school. When he is ready to
“work” with the children, we will inform parents and seek consent.

We are delighted with how well the return to school has gone this week. A great deal of
hard work has gone into making school a safe place for the staff and children to be; but it is
all worth it to see their smiling faces back where they need to be.
Photos of Nursery, Reception and LDC to follow on our next Newsletter!
Health & Safety Update
Page 3 September 2020
Having now experienced a week of the “new normal” at school we would like to amend/ remind you of a few safety points. Arriving at and departing from school: Due to the number of adults at the bottom of the drive and in the play-
ground, please can we ask all adults who are not exempt to start wearing a face mask
Please can we remind adults to try to socially distance at all times (we know how tricky this can be and have to remind ourselves!)
If waiting for your child at the end of the drive, please do so safely Only one adult per family should enter the playground (High School pupils
accompanying parents will need to wait elsewhere –sorry!) The Government has recommended that all children walk, scooter or bike
to school—we positively encourage this and will manage the bike/scooter sheds to ensure that children remain safe in that area of the school
If you need to drive to school, please remember to park legally and responsibly
Please contact the office via email or telephone rather than in person, whenever possible
Clubs/Music Lessons: All clubs in the Autumn Term will take place in class bubbles Sports Multi Skills club will be provided free of charge to children in Y1—Y6
starting next week ( Y1 & Y6 Tuesday, Y2 & Y5 Wednesday, Y3 & Y4 Thurs-day)
We are currently trying to arrange Ukulele Club in Class Bubbles Peripatetic Music lessons will recommence next week (with Risk Assess-
ments in place) - more details to follow if you would like your child to start learning to play an instrument
Large Gatherings Unfortunately large gatherings are no longer permissible in schools For the time being we will not be holding class assemblies, social
functions, Open Mornings etc We are currently discussing how we will organise parents evenings which
Uniform Reminder… We are proud of our uniform and expect all children to wear it. You can find a full uniform list on our school website in the Parent Booklet . Just a reminder that all children can wear trainers this term to enable them to take part in daily physical activity (whilst limiting clothing etc in school). Fashion clothing, footwear and nail varnish are not acceptable in school. The only jewellery pupils are permitted to wear are watches (preferably only in KS2), fitbits and small stud earrings and, for everyone’s safety, these must be removed (by your child) for PE activities. Please ensure that your child’s hair is of their natural colour.
