A 1:1 prototype was built in order to test the structural properties of the pavilion.

It works as a system of private and public courtyards that create self-contained communities. It is elevated from the water to make room for boat parking.

This urban design for the Hong Kong harbor replaces the preexisting transportation network and cultural centers to create an urban complex with a great view of Victoria Harbor. The boat and bus stations peel away from the mainland in order to separate the people from the tall city.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSESWelcome to your summer Pilgrim Youth Group retreat! This year we are honored to have a very Godly woman pastor to share with us God’s timeless truths and word. I am very excited in anticipation to see how God is going to unfold His sovereign plan during our time here. I pray you are seeking God and really making this time at the retreat centered on hearing from God and learning to listen to His heartbeat and I desire that it would resonate inside of your own lives.

This year’s theme is centered on a practice we seldom find ourselves doing. It is spiritual self-examination. Like getting a check up from a doctor yearly (which I have not done in many years), it isimportant to make sure you are healthy spiritually. The failure to do so will be an unexamined life that is prone to unchecked warning signs of spiritual apathy, pain, and the inability to produce fruitresulting in joy and worship. Do you feel stagnant, going through the motions, and even unsure why you are here, why you call yourself a Christian, and where your relationship with God really stands? You need to examine yourself.

Please be honest with yourself, and allow God room to stir your hearts and direct you to be a healthier follower of Christ. He will heal, he will mend, he will convict, and he will forgive you to be a man/woman after God’s own heart.

Expect Great things and Attempt Great things for HIM!

MONDAY BREAKFAST: ROMANS 8:18-21I consider that our prsent sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

MONDAY LUNCH: ROMANS 8:22-25We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what they already have? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

MONDAY DINNER: ROMANS 8:26-30In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.

TUESDAY BREAKFAST: ROMANS 8:31-34What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

TUESDAY LUNCH: ROMANS 8:35-36Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

TUESDAY DINNER: ROMANS 8:37-39No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

WELCOME TO PYG SUMMER RETREAT 2011 ROMANS 8:18-39

1. Respect the schedule and be on time always.

2. Participate in all activities.

3. Stay on retreat grounds.

4. Do not enter rooms of people of the opposite gender.

5. Do not skip any meals.

6. Listen to small group leaders, pastors, teachers, retreat groundskeepers.

7. Be kind to one another at all times: watch your actions and especially your language!

8. Do not have cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, ipods/mp3 players, or handheld games.

9. Clean up after yourself in the sanctuary, the cafeteria, bible study areas, bedrooms, bathrooms... anywhere you are.

10. Don’t lose your retreat booklets.

11. Pray for one another!

12. Allow the Lord to change your hearts!

About Michael Oh

This year, we have invited Dr. Michael Oh to come speak on being a nobody for Christ.

Michael was born and raised in the Philadelphia area, and he attended the University of Pennsylvania as an undergraduate where he also received his Master’s degree in Education and his PhD in Leadership and Cultural Anthropology. Michael received a Master of Divinity degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a Master’s degree in East Asian Studies at Harvard University with a concentration in Japanese anthropology and sociology.

In 2005, Michael founded Christ Bible Seminary, the fastest growing seminary in Japan. Michael is a PCA Teaching Elder in the Philadelphia Presbytery and the youngest member of the executive leadership of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization. He has spoken at Urbana and Desiring God conferences.

Light 11 is all about God. It is about aligning the hearts of young men and women with the heart of God. God has created us to be in relationship with Him, He has redeemed us for salvation though we were once beyond repair, and He is now calling us to return once again to eternal life, purpose, and joy. This is the greatest news one could ever receive, and thus it is our duty and our privilege to share this with the world.

Light 11 is not a one-night event, but it is another signpost on the road and another page in the story, created in order to remind us of our calling and to bring us closer to fulfilling that calling. Our vision is to develop in students the day-in and day-out realization that we have been bought with a price, and we therefore must be sold out for Christ.

We are glad that you are here to join us, and we pray that you will be blessed both tonight and always.

There is a steady growth of evangelicals, who were only 2.1% (800,000) in 1960, but are now over 8% and number over 9 million.

Pray that Mexicans, both indigenous and mestizo might find their ultimate identity in Christ and the purposes of God; the history of Mexico involving the turbulent relationship with its neighbors all shape the country’s history profoundly.

Pray for law enforcement - few Mexicans have strong confidence in the police or judicial system so few crimes are supported by the citizens. The president has made efforts to abbate drug trafficking as one of his top priorities.

There has been a growth of evangelicals and charismatic Christians in the last several decades. Positive contributing forces can be attributed to the effective witness of believers and missionaries, particularly after the devastating earthquake of 1976 and in light of the effects of violence and pain of warfare.

Pray for bitterness and recognition of past sins: Guatemala has a chaotic history of armed violence and warfare. The part played by the US in arming oppressors and turning a blind eye to human rights abuses has only been partially acknowledged, with light recently shed on the US’ role in administering inhumane medical tests in Guatemala in the search for better treatments for sexual diseases such as syphilis.

Pray for evangelical leaders from both Mayan and Spanish-speaking communities for healing of the nation: Progress is being made in recognizing multicultural character of the country.

Pray for an end to violence - the country has one of the highest murder rates in the world: 52 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants.
