Thursday, October 8th
***IMPORTANT INFORMATION*** The PAL Program will be entering its 14TH Season as coordinator of the Homecoming Carnival. We are presently beginning to put together the plans and details for the school-wide carnival. If you sponsor an organization which would like to host a booth at the Homecoming Carnival, please note that the PAL organization receives 10% of the profit of each booth as a way to support the work we do on behalf of others throughout the year. We greatly appreciate your support! Please take note of the following important details:
** You must sign up for your booth in the front office at the Receptionist’s Desk. First come-first serve on the booth ideas. We will make a concerted effort to not have more than 2 groups selling the same type of food (major food items) and no more than 3 groups selling snack food-type items. No more than 7 groups will be allowed to sell drinks. **Please DO NOT sell drinks with your Food Booths, as this takes away from the booths who just sell drinks as their fundraiser.** (This has changed from past years BECAUSE our booths that have sold “just drinks” over the past few years have not been as successful because Food Booths began to gradually add in drinks as well.)
And we’d love to see more fun/game-type booths offered, too!
The first day to sign up will be: FRI., SEPT 18TH (@ 7:00 A.M.)
The last day to sign up will be: WED., SEPT. 30TH (@ 2:30 P.M.)
** Please notify your Booster Clubs of these dates & deadlines.
******PLEASE NOTE****** ** The PRICE OF THE TICKETS will be $1. Please take this in
consideration when choosing the prices for the items in your booth.
** Sponsors, please ensure that there will be an adult at all booths at all times during the carnival. ONLY ADULTS SHOULD HANDLE THE
COLLECTION OF TICKETS AT THE BOOTHS. If during the carnival, a booth is found without adult supervision, it is subject to being closed.
Once sign-ups are completed on the 30th, I will plan the layout for the carnival booths and then send a flyer with Carnival Information to each organization hosting
a booth along with a map of the layout of the booths. See or e-mail Donna Stone (PT #1) if you have any questions. THANKS! !

Science Fair is COMING!!! The science fair is fast
approaching. All students are encouraged to enter. Topic approval forms are due by
October 1st to Mrs. Garza in room 304. All inquires can be made to my e-‐mail [email protected].
In the past, we have had students move on to regional, state, and internaGonal levels from Brook. Students have won scholarship
money, internships, giJ cerGficates and made important connecGons.
Please remember that Clear Brook High School is a closed campus, and parents should not be delivering fast food (etc.) to the students. In emergency situaGons, parents are allowed to drop off homemade lunches, but it is encouraged to keep money in their lunch account so they are able to purchase from the cafeteria, if needed. Thank you for your help, support, and understanding.

Clear Brook Debate Racks Up Points Toward State!
The Clear Brook High School Debate team attended the annual Elkins High School debate tournament on September 11th through September 12th. The Brook Debaters were able to defend their outstanding records from Foster High School two weeks ago, performing exceptionally well. Sheri Naqvi advanced to the semi-finals Lincoln-Douglas debate rounds. In doing so, she was able to rack up 6 state points, half of the required points needed to attend the TFA State Competition in Austin this March. Brook’s Public Forum Squad also competed remarkably, closing out finals. Duo Matthew Garcia and Elizabeth Isabell placed first, earning 8 state points, while the team of Ryan Williams and Lizna Lakhani followed in second place, collecting 6 points.
In addition, LD members Dhiren Wijesinghe, Keion Rasti, and Anish Antony advanced to octo-finals, receiving 2 state points each. Gabriel Rivera was able to excel to quarterfinals, which earned him 3 points. Additionally, Hannah Alsobrook and Erica Lee made it to quarterfinals in PF, putting them at 2 state points as a team. Clear Brook was also able to dominate the tournament’s speaking events. In Foreign Extemporaneous speaking, Sheri Naqvi, Gabriel Rivera, and Adarsh Suresh moved into semi-finals. Kiara Soliz and Hannah Alsobrook also advanced to semi-finals in Domestic Extemporaneous speaking, while Ryan Williams placed 3rd overall in finals, placing him at 4 states points in DX. Moreover, Gabriel Rivera managed to rank 3rd in Impromptu Speaking, while Auva Shariatmadari and Adarsh Suresh both made their ways to semi-finals.
Clear Brook heads to Elsik High School this weekend to carry on their remarkable streak.
