Text formatting conventionsText formatting conventions such as boldface, italic, or Courier font may be used in the flow of the text to highlight specific words or phrases.

Command syntax conventionsBold and italic text identify command syntax components. Delimiters and operators define groupings of parameters and their logical relationships.

Supported hardwareIn those instances in which procedures or parts of procedures documented here apply to some devices but not to others, this list identifies exactly which devices are supported by Fabric OS 8.1.x and which are not.

Although many different software and hardware configurations are tested and supported by Brocade Communication Systems, Inc for Fabric OS 8.1.x, documenting all possible configurations and scenarios is beyond the scope of this document.

What is new in this documentThis Brocade Fabric OS Command Reference Manual documents all FOS commands that are officially supported. Any commands not listed in this Command Reference are not supported and may be subject to removal without notification.

The Virtual Fabric restrictions for Fabric OS commands table in the Command Availability has been updated. The table lists the Context, Switch type, and Remote Domain Execution for the commands.

NOTEAdmin Domain is deprecated and the information about Admin Domain restrictions are removed.

portCfgCompress and portCfgEncrypt - Updated encryption and compression feature support information for 32 Gbps-capable platforms.

fosConfig - The --ethsw operand displays in the man page but is not supported.The following updates and corrections apply to this document and also to the man pages for Fabric OS 8.1.0c. These changes will be incorporated into the next revision of the document and man pages.

portShow - To add the following descriptions to the man page.- AoQ - Application-oriented QoS; indicates that an F_Port or N_Port has negotiated a link that is capable of quality of

service (QoS). Both sides of the link have QoS capability and agreed on the protocol. The link could be between an HBA and an Access Gateway, between an Access Gateway and an edge switch, or between an HBA and an edge switch.

- Faa - Fabric-Assigned PWWN simplifies server deployment in a Fibre Channel SAN (FC SAN) environment by using a virtual port World Wide Name (PWWN) instead of a physical PWWN to configure zoning and LUN mapping and masking.
