DESCRIPTION
Women’s Project Theater, under the leadership of newly-appointed Producing Artistic Director Lisa McNulty, is pleased to present the World Premiere of BRIGHT HALF LIFE – a kaleidoscopic new play about love, skydiving and the infinite moments that make a life together. BRIGHT HALF LIFE was written by Pulitzer Prize nominee Tanya Barfield and is directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman, starring Rebecca Henderson (Appropriate Behavior) and Rachael Holmes (Ruined) – in a five-week limited engagement at New York City Center Stage II from Tuesday, February 17 to March 22, 2015. - Learn more at: http://wptheater.org

TANYA BARFIELD (Playwright) Tanya Barfield’sThe Call premiered last spring at PlaywrightsHorizons in co-production with Primary Stagesand was a New York Times Critic’s Pick. Her playBlue Door (South Coast Rep, PlaywrightsHorizons) was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.Tanya wrote the book for the Theatreworks/USAchildren’s musical, Civil War: The First BlackRegiment which toured public schoolsregionally. LISA MCNULTY (Producing Artistic Director)Lisa is in her first season as Producing ArtisticDirector of Women’s Project Theater. Lisa comesto WP from Manhattan Theatre Club, where sheserved as Artistic Line Producer for eightseasons, working on more than 30 productionsboth on and off Broadway, including plays by LynnNottage, Sarah Treem, Harvey Fierstein, andTarell Alvin McCraney, among many, many others.Lisa has a long history with WP Theater. She wasoriginally hired by the company’s founder, JuliaMiles, as the Literary Manager from 1997-2000,
where she dramaturged work by María IreneFornés, Julie Hébert, and Karen Hartman, amongothers. In 2004, she returned to WP as itsAssociate Artistic Director where she alsoserved as the company’s casting director andliterary manager. Her independent producingcareer includes projects with Sarah Ruhl,Todd Almond, and Lucy Thurber, all at 13P.Lisa has also served as the ProducingAssociate at the McCarter Theatre, acting asLine Producer on McCarter’s mainstage, aswell as developing McCarter’s commissionedshort series.
MAUREEN MOYNIHAN (Managing Director)Maureen started her career in Chicago workingfor the Steppenwolf Theatre Company andcommercial producer Fox Theatricals. Prior tojoining WP Theater, Maureen spent over adecade working for Blue Man Productions inseveral positions including serving as theirExecutive Director for five North AmericanProductions. Since moving to New York, shehas worked for several nonprofit andcommercial organizations including ManhattanNew Music Project, York Theatre Company andthe new immersive theatrical experience Queenof the Night.

WP Theatersupports female-identified theater artists andthe world-class, groundbreaking work theycreate, and provides a platform where theirvoices can be heard and celebrated on theAmerican stage.
Founded in 1978 by visionary producer, JuliaMiles, WP has been the launching pad formany of our nation's most important theaterartists. Eve Ensler, María Irene Fornés, KatoriHall, Pam MacKinnon, Lynn Nottage and LeighSilverman, among many, many others, allfound early artistic homes here. Throughout its37 year history, WP has produced over 600main stage productions and developmentalprojects, and published 11 anthologies ofplays. No other producing institution in thecountry can claim this kind of ongoing historyof advocacy and support for women in thetheater, and we look ahead to the nextgeneration of artists who will also begin theircareers here.
WP Theater accomplishes its mission throughseveral fundamental programs: the WP Lab, atwo-year mentorship and new playdevelopment program for women playwrights,directors, and producers; the Playwright InResidence commissioning program; theDevelopmental series; and the Main Stageseries, which features a full season of Off-Broadway productions written and directed byextraordinary theater artists.
