Temporal Permanence is a shore base designed to accommodate the needs of offshore oil industries in the Gulf of Mexico. Located in Venice, Louisiana, the shore base is designed to contribute to the revitalization of the symbiotic relationship between industry and nature. This is achieved by combining existing offshore industry components into a transformable, and mobile, shore base. Thus, Temporal Permanence is able to operate in a variety of conditions: inland-river, onshore-coastal, offshore-shelf, and offshore-deep.

PERCEPTION

Sensible Living combines the opposing forces of high-end residential apartments and a penitentiary, within a 30 acre site in Philadelphia. The project aims to better the lives of the residents and prisoners through a process of reconditioning their perception. This reconditioning is brought about by unique and deliberate sensory ex-periences created within the architecture. When the un-conscious act of altering/controlling one’s own percep-tion becomes conscious, residents and prisoners become aware of their ability to control the way in which they perceive the world around them.

PELT-LOFTSThe Pelt-Lofts seek to revitalize downtown Baton Rouge living by reconnecting residents with water. The design aims to create a sustainable paradigm: utilizing water for the dehumidification and cooling of air in a hot/humid climate. This process is achieved by incorporating the design of a prototypical, small-scale building system into the six lofts. The Pelt Wall System uses Pelt Wheels to capture energy from the falling water, which is then used to power a series of Peltier Devices to continuously cool the water stored above and below the wall. The chilled water serves as a dehumidifier, as well as a thermal barrier on the building facade. Rainwater is captured by collection pools across the site, and is filtered to be used in the Pelt Wall systems of each unit.

The Living-Garten is a mixed use development providing residents of Berlin with a variety of unique and desirable living spaces. The overall form of each building, as well as the site, expresses the conflict between the existing urban fabric and the historical context surrounding the site.
