This window dressing workshop is aimed at independent retailers who would like toimprove and make the most of their window displays during the walking festivals heldthroughout the Brecon Beacons National Park.
You will learn a range of visual merchandising methods and an understanding of how good window dressing attracts customers. You will have the opportunity to develop abespoke design to your business needs for your walking festival and have the opportunity to explore new techniques and materials.

At this practical “bring a laptop” workshop is for small business owners and marketing officers,learn how to put together a sales email or e-newsletter using MailChimp, an online emailmarketing solution, free for lists under 2000 contacts.

Black Mountain Fringes

The heart of the Black Mountain might be wild and seemingly inaccessible to many but itsfringes teem with stories. Many relate to our predecessors efforts to prise wealth from thisrocky landscape – we’ll hear some of those tales.
A minibus leaves National Park Authority Headquarters, Brecon at 9.30am heading forCraig-y-nos Country Park but taking in Europe’s oldest tree at Defynnog on the way. We’ll enjoy a short walk from the post office/café in Abercraf, and another from Ystradowenup Henllys Vale. Calling too at the Black Mountain Centre in Brynaman to gen up on the‘Calch’ project and then heading up to Herbert’s Quarry high on the Black Mountainbefore a return to Brecon before 5pm.

Field to Fork
Thursday 9th October, 11am-1pm
Venue The Welsh Venison Centre & Farm Shop
Make your way to the Welsh Venison Centre and Farm Shop, Bwlch for 11am.
Elaine, Rachel and Leanne will welcome you with tea and coffee, you can browse aroundthe shop to see the variety of gifts and food specialities.
Andrew Morgan will take you on a tour of the farm taking you around his herds of deer,sheep and cattle and give you some history about the farm and setting up the business. Back to the shop and there will be a Cutting demonstration – one of the skilled butcherswill cut up a carcase for you to see the different cuts of meats.
Now taste it! Some of the meats and sausages will be freshly cooked and served for you to sample. Then stay for a light lunch.

Building PERSONA’s for your business

This course will help you to see how important it is for your business to start to build yourown PERSONA’s and how important it is for your business to match your product to yourPERSONA’s.
This course will help you understand the importance of the customer perspective in relation to your product. The course will cover:
• An Introduction to qualitative research and ethnographic tools • About Personas and their value • Creating bespoke personas • What to look for and how to capture information • Practical exercises/demo • How to use personas (ie in service development/marketing/new business models)
You will be given a 6 page A4 toolkit to accompany the course.

Layers of History in the Gorge

Explore the Clydach Gorge from top to bottom!
A 6 mile one way walk from the edge of Brynmawr to Gilwern taking in as much of thearea’s geological and archaeological interest as we can. And there’s probably more here per square mile than anywhere else in the park! Caves and kilns, quarries and canals,tramways and tunnels, Tolkienesque beechwoods and hillforts, waterfalls and superbpanoramic views: all these are part of a genuinely surprising mix and presented here in one walk.
A minibus picks up at the National Park Authority Headquarters at 9.30am and at CRICin Crickhowell at 10.00am and returns by 5pm.

This seminar explores the very latest smartphone and tablet applications that can be usedby tourism operators to reach their target market, impress customers and engage withtheir audience in an innovative way.
The session will include examples of 'smart' applications that can be downloaded andused immediately to promote tourism businesses, or to provide an enhanced digital serviceand experience to visitors.
Delegates will leave the session with new digital ideas that they can implement and anupdated knowledge in the ever changing and evolving digital tourism landscape.

The Brecon Beacons Ambassador scheme is a free course open to people who run and work in tourism related businesses.
Sense of Place Explores the concept of a sense of place for the Brecon Beacons, what makes the BreconBeacons special and how you can communicate this to your visitors.
Park in your Heart A day when you will go back into the past and learn about the geology, wildlife andarchaeology of the Brecon Beacons. Also a look into the future to discover how, by workingtogether, we can make the National Park sustainable for the future.
Customer Care World HostThe principles of Customer Service are about focusing on the needs of your visitors andcustomers. The skills and techniques you will learn on this course are the principles ofservice professionalism.
Attendance to all three elements will secure the Brecon Beacons National Park Ambassador award.
