Leave of absence

Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Please don’t book your holiday during term time

Please know that moving forward, along with other local schools, we must follow guidance and fine families for taking time off for holidays in term time.

Where families do not complete a Leave of Absence request form before they take time away from school, this becomes a safeguarding concern and we must refer the missing child/children to the Local Authority.

Please make sure we know where your child is if they are not in school.

P4C Gold We are extremely pleased to share our news that

the school has received the Gold Award for our Philosophy known in school as P4C. Miss Brown who leads this work and all staff are very pleased that the good work in school has been recognised again. Well done everyone and thank you Miss Brown for leading this excellent work in school.

Arts Award We are proud to share the news that our school has received the Arts’ award.

This celebrates the work we do to ensure the profile of the arts remains high in the lives of children and is given importance in our curriculum. Thank you Mrs Moloney and Miss Brown for leading us through this work.

Primary/Secondary Leaders Award 2018-

2019 for the Tees Valley We congratulate Year 6 children Aryan Ghaderi and Lucie Kondasova who received a distinction and were shortlisted for the Primary Engineers Award this year. Their work was displayed at the university, well done children, we are very proud of you.

Tees valley Champion Many congratulations to Khalid Hashmi, he came first out of all the children in the Howler event. Well done Khalid!

Staffing

We congratulate Mrs Wormald and Mrs Emmerson on their retirement at the end of this term. Both have worked at Breckon Hill school for a long time and have many happy memories of children and their families as they have passed through their care. We give them our very best wishes as they start the next chapter in their lives.

We also give a warm welcome to Miss Fisher who will be joining us as a Year 2 teacher from September.

Keeping Healthy and safe

Building News Building works will continue over the summer and into

the new term, hopefully the new classrooms and kitchen will be ready for after the October half term.

Please talk to children about the dangers of building sites. We will be holding an assembly with Mr Cooper the site manager before we break up to remind children to keep away from building sites.

Relationship Policy Following updated guidance, our

policy talks about teaching children in an age appropriate way, healthy friendships and relationships. We invite parents to view the policy on the school website and contact the school if you have any questions or suggestions.

Sports’ Week It has been a brilliant week in school. A big thanks to Mr Short, Mr

McCarten and all staff for making sure the children have had a great week, keeping fit and having fun.

SEND Review June saw us receive a review of the work we do with children with a

special educational need and /or disability. We were praised highly for our work.
