From the Pastors Desk

I hope this year is off to a great start for you. I believe that its going to be a great year for Christ Church. In 2017, we will continue good foundations of ministry and take next steps to impact, help, and reach more individuals, families, and groups with the love of God. As we live into our mission to Love God, love and serve others, and make disciples of Jesus Christ we will nurture and challenge each other in our faith journeys and enjoy doing life together. We will also seek to expand the circle as we connect with others outside our faith family and let them see Gods love flow through us. I pray that the people of Christ Church and those we connect with in our everyday living will experience meaning, purpose, and hope in deep ways this year.

As we ask the Holy Spirit to empower us for faithful living we remember that God invites us to join Him in the work of ministry, which means we have a part to play as well. May we remain open to the ways God will call to us individually and together as the church for His good work in this New Year. I invite you to be part of what God wants to do through us together as Christ Church in one of two ways.

1. Get involved. If youre not involved in serving in some aspect of our church, will you please take a step this year? You will experience the benefits of helping others. You will grow as you invest in people. You will expand your community. We all have time and talents we can put to use for Gods work. Check out the pink sheet, this newsletter, the Connection Table and hallway bulletin boards to see whats going on and where you can get involved. To those who already are active beyond worship, THANK YOU!

2. Get invested. With more resources we can reach more people. To help us resource ministry year round you may want to set up recurring giving through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or online donations. EFT forms can be found on the Connection Table which allow for setting up direct bank to bank transfers. We also have online giving that makes it easy, safe, and fast to give with a credit or debit card through our website. Go to www.christchurchracine.com and click on Give. Through recurring donations, your gifts and tithe will be deducted from your account each month as a gift of gratitude to God and a commitment to help make ministry happen. THANK YOU to those who do give sacrificially, your sharing makes a real difference in peoples lives!

Psalm 127:1 says, Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Lets work hard. Lets prepare. Lets get involved and invested. But more than that, lets ask God to do what only He can do: build His house. Be in prayer for the ministry of Christ Church in 2017.

God Bless, Pastor George J. Kafer

God Is Good

God is working good in the lives of people through the ministries of Christ Church. If you have a story of how your life or someone elses has been blessed by God or affected by a ministry at Christ Church please share it with Pastor George so God can be glorified.

Your Giving Makes a Difference!

In January we helped a family from Christ Church with a medical bill through the use of our compassion fund which our general budget and designated giving supplies. We also helped get food to a family from our community outside the church family.

Thank you to those who offer support for vital, life changing ministry.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) Spaghetti Dinner & Silent Auction

March 26, 2017

Tickets can be purchased from the church office or at the door beginning late February. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $3 for children (3-12) and under 3 free. Dinner will be served noon-1:00pm with the silent auction running from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

This is the 34th year that Christ Church has participated in ASP. This June volunteers from Christ Church will serve a week long mission to the Appalachian region. The volunteers take part in a variety of repairs to provide warmer, safer and drier homes to families who are unable to make the necessary repairs on their own. All labor, materials, and expenses used to repair the homes are provided by the volunteer crews. All funds raised at dinner and auction will be used to help fund this summer's trip.

You are invited to donate items or services of any kind for the auction. In the past, we have auctioned crafts, woodworking, artwork, quilts, afghans, photography, knitted or sewn items, baked goods, sports tickets and memorabilia and goods or services from your place of business. Please drop off your auction items by Saturday morning March 25th or bring your baked goods on Sunday morning.

We need donations to ensure the success of this auction and outreach program. Together we can touch lives and provide hope to families in Appalachia. Please join us for the dinner and to bid at the auction. As always, our guarantee is plenty of good food, fun and fellowship.

Eye on Evangelism

Think about when you want to extend an invitation to someone to visit our church. Before we do this, we must have a relationship with the person before he or she will consider stepping outside their comfort zone and visit our church with you. My profession was sales. Whenever anyone asked me how a person can be successful in sales, I would say, sales is not about selling a product or service, it is about building relationships. If you dont have a customers trust, you will never be successful. Talking to people about your faith and sharing your story with them will be meaningless unless you have their trust. God Bless, Doug Hoyt/Evangelism Team

Help with a Laundromat Outreach on March 18 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. We will pay for peoples laundry and hand out invites to Easter events at Christ Church. Sign up at the Connection Table in early March.

What Will Your Legacy Be?

Have you considered your legacy; how about continuing to let God use you to transform lives by adding a line to your Will that gives 10% of your estate to Christ Church. Estate funds have helped us with much needed building repairs or improvements so that our building continues to support vital ministry.

Friendship Luncheon

Wed., February 8th & 22nd at 12:30 p.m. Make your reservations: Call Billie Stilley at 554-8801.

Open to all and friends of our community.

Apportionment Giving

Christ Church has a history of 100% apportionment giving, allowing us to help transform lives by Gods love. Apportionments provide for ministries that directly help over 50,000 people in Wisconsin and many more beyond. In 2017 our apportionment is $44,220, if we each give faithfully to the general fund and if able a special gift for apportionments, $200 a year per member, we can continue to support connectional ministries and free up more of our general funds to increase outreach and ministry in our local area.

Stewardship Makes a Difference!

Thank you for all the ways you support ministry. This newsletter has examples of how our church is making a difference in peoples lives through your giving! It is good to see people trusting in God and answering His call to give. People are offering themselves to serve and their financial giving (several tithing 10% of income, or working toward tithing)! Check the connection table for Electronic Fund Transfer forms and ways to give of your time and talent as well. As you respond to Gods call in the giving of your time, talent, and resources remember if you have a need contact Pastor George.

Consider This

If you desire to give to specific ministries beyond your general offering here are some areas: Apportionments,

Building Fund

(helps with: painting, siding, repairs, parking lot),

Change for Change

In the month of February our Change for Change will be donated to the Veterans' Village that is being built here in Racine. Known officially as the James A. Peterson Veteran Village, these 15 tiny houses will provide transitional housing complete with bed and bedding, refrigerator, microwave, tv, couch, and composting toilet. The tiny houses will be centered around a community building which will hold a full kitchen stocked through the Veteran's food pantry, showers and bathrooms along with a meeting room and on site counseling. The community center will be available to residents 24 hours a day. The vets will be assisted in finding stable employment, any ongoing treatment that may be needed, financial advice, and a furnished permanent home. If you wish to give more than change, a check may be made out to VETERANS OUTREACH OF WISCONSIN. One in four homeless people in America have served our country. This is a statistic that needs to change.

Thank you for caring.
