Vision:
Braeside Primary School is a dynamic learning community that values diversity and fosters a sense of belonging.
We meet the needs of each individual through collaborative, reflective, and evolving school-wide practices that
provide explicit, engaging experiences. Our students achieve their academic, emotional and social potential and are
contributing members of the community.
Yesterday morning our Year 6 students headed off to camp on the
first frosty morning of the year. I am sure they will welcome the
warmer change in weather that a week in Perth will bring. I am
looking forward to joining them on Wednesday. Many of the
students I’m sure will have me in their sights during laser tag on
Wednesday night. We will be updating the Braeside Facebook
Page with some photos and also Year 6 Group Facebook page.
PBS Rewards
Classes have been busy earning PBS tokens and rewards for their
classes as well as for their factions. Every class has achieved their
first class reward, with Miss Cremen’s class receiving their third
when they had lunch with me yesterday. We are seeing a wide
range of tokens being given out, particularly for Achieving Astronaut
as students work to embed the learning dispositions. The PBS
focus for the next 2 weeks is being Respectful Rangers. Treating
friends kindly and how they would like to be treated themselves and
also speaking nicely to and about each other.

Staffing Changes
As you would already know, we are undergoing a few staff changes for the remainder of this term. Mrs Tester
is heading to Kojonup this Thursday to undertake the Level 4 Deputy role, Mrs Campbell will be stepping into
her role. Miss Palmer has newly arrived from her travelling and is going to be working with the Year 1 and 2
students in Room 8. Routines and structures will stay the same and Mrs Campbell and Mrs Stade will be
available to support Miss Palmer with the transition. Miss Palmer will be attending the excursion to Wagin to
give her an opportunity to build relationships with the students.
Wagin Historical Village
Students from Rooms 4, 8 and 6 are heading to the Wagin Historical Village today. This excursion ties in with
their pre-learning from the previous 5 weeks to their Genius Time investigation questions and project. We are
looking forward to seeing the questions they generate to investigate as a result of all the inquiry learning into
the History of the range of items they have explored.
Athletics Incursion
As a part of the Sporting Schools program, all classes from Year 1-5 will participate in an Athletics clinic on Friday 27th August.

CANTEEN NEWS
Attendance Letters have been sent home recently, if your child has unexplained absences, please complete
the Attendance Letter and return to the office so our records can be updated. Thank you
SCHOOL BANKING
LOST PROPERTY
School Banking every THURSDAY.
Remember to bring in your banking wallets to the office every Thursday morning to
earn tokens for your reward. Some students are very close to earning 10 tokens. If
you haven’t been banking for a while, your tokens don’t disappear, so you can restart
your banking at any time. Look forward to seeing you Thursday morning in the office.
INCURSION/EXCURSION FORMS Students often bring home Incursion or Excursion Permission Forms to be completed and signed.
Please can parents/carers complete a separate Permission Slip for each child.
This is especially important as notes are taken with Teachers to excursions or incursions and they are filed in
class order. It’s even more important when medical conditions or medications are noted, they need to be not-
ed for the correct child. So a separate form for each child ensures their information is also kept separate.
We thank you for you understanding and consideration when completing separate forms.
Canteen will be operating Wednesdays & Thursdays, orders through flexischool.com.au or the Flexischools app.
The canteen will be closed week 10 (22/23sept) this term, but will reopen for Week 1 Term 4.
Does anyone own these swimming goggles? Please contact the
office if they belong to you.
Remember that any Lost Property is handed in to the office. We
have a few items that are waiting to be collected.
If you have any items that have been lost, please do visit the office
or call to see if we have your lost item.
ATTENDANCE LETTERS - PLEASE RETURN

LOTE
Halo!
We have been really busy in Indonesian over the past term! You may remember in May,
Queenie Mathewson ran a Mother’s Day stall to raise funds for the Bali Children’s Foundation.
Her generous endeavour extended to the establishment of a Pen Pal program with a school in
Bali. In Term Two, our learning focused on conversational language, including introductions
and feelings. We learnt how to ask and answer questions about where someone lives, where
they go to school and how old they are. We’ve used this language to write our first letter to
students in Bali. Last week, Ibu MacNicol got confirmation that our letters have been delivered
to the classroom teacher. The classes are now looking forward to receiving a reply to their
Letter.
This term, we are continuing to learn new language and consolidate what we have previously
been taught. All the classes are getting very good at counting to 10, and are beginning to
apply this to number games that we can play in class. We will also be learning about school in
Indonesia, including the names for school items.
Last term the students learnt about Wayang Topeng, a performance using masks. These
photos are a sample of the students wearing their masks.
