    3 DescriptionThe bq77904 and bq77905 devices are low-powerbattery pack protectors that implement a suite ofvoltage, current, and temperature protections withoutmicrocontroller (MCU) control. The device's stackableinterface provides simple scaling to support batterycell applications from 3 S to 20 S or more. Protectionthresholds and delays are factory-programmed andavailable in a variety of configurations. Separateovertemperature and undertemperature thresholds fordischarge (OTD and UTD) and charge (OTC andUTC) are provided for added flexibility.

    The device achieves pack protection through theintegrated independent CHG and DSG low-sideNMOS FET drivers, which may be disabled throughtwo control pins. These control pins may also be usedto achieve cell protection solutions for higher series(6 S and beyond) in a simple and economicalmanner. To do this, simply cascade a higher deviceCHG and DSG outputs to the immediate lower devicecontrol pins. For reduced component count, allprotection faults use internal delay timers.
