Bose (QuietComfort 35) Workaround for Windows 7 Due to native limitations of the Windows 7 Bluetooth stack, and the reliance of Broadcom software on the built-in Bluetooth stack, there are problems connecting to newer Bose Bluetooth audio devices in Windows 7. This guide aims to replace the built-in Windows 7 Bluetooth stack with Toshiba’s per Bose’s recommendation. Due to native limitations of the Windows 7 Bluetooth stack, and the reliance of Broadcom software on the built-in

Bluetooth stack, there are problems connecting to newer Bose Bluetooth audio devices in Windows 7. This guide aims to

replace the built-in Windows 7 Bluetooth stack with Toshiba’s per Bose’s recommendation. (Credit for core fixes in this

guide goes to dolphin-emu.org)

1) Download the latest Toshiba Bluetooth Stack for Windows.

2) Download the supplemental compatibility files.

i. 3) Run TC00636200A (TC00636200A.exe) to start the installation process for the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack.

a. 4) In the window that appears, click ‘Start’.

a. 5) The install wizard will begin, click ‘Next’, evaluate the license agreement, if accepted choose the option then

choose ‘Next. Then click ‘Install’.

c. 6) The installer will start, but won’t complete. This is normal.

b. 7) When you reach the dialogue that reads ‘Please plug in the Bluetooth device and click OK button.’ Click

‘Cancel’.

a. b. Then click ‘Finish’ in the window that appears.

c. In the last window that appears click ‘No’ to restarting your computer.

i. 8) Go to ‘My Computer’, then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba

Stack\Drivers\tosrfusb

a. Copy the tosrfusb (tosrfusb.inf) file into this folder.

b. c. When prompted, choose ‘Move and Replace’

d. e. Click ‘Continue’ to the administrator permission dialogue.

f. 9) Go back to C:\Program Files (x86)\Toshiba\Bluetooth Toshiba Stack

a. 10) Run TosBtMng (TosBtMng.exe).

11) The installer will start again, after a moment a prompt will appear that the publisher can’t be verified. Select

to install the driver software anyway.

a. b. You may also get prompted to insert the Bluetooth device again. This time click OK.

c. 12) Once the installer finishes, a new dialogue will appear. Check ‘Don’t show this window next time’ and click

cancel.

13) You will be prompted to restart your computer again. Leave the Window open and run the test_mode

(test_mode.reg) file.

a. 14) After accepting the UAC prompt, accept the Registry Editor prompt by clicking ‘Yes’.

a. b. Click OK for the final Registry Editor prompt.

c. d. Then click ‘Yes’ in the restart prompt.

e. 15) After the computer restart, double-click the Bluetooth icon next to the clock in the system tray.

a. 16) A new set of windows will appear, ignore them for the moment and put your Bose headphones into pairing

mode. To ensure that it will not automatically reconnect to a previous device, it is recommended to reset the

pairing list first.

17) With your Bose headphones in pairing mode, choose ‘Express Mode’ then click ‘Next’.

a. 18) Choose the Bose headphones out of the list and click ‘Next’.

a. b. Accept the authentication prompt that appears. (Click Yes)

c. 19) The headphones are now paired and you may set them as the default audio device.

not come with further assistance or warranty of any kind.

The headphones will only operate in headphone mode when following this guide.

o You can remove the pairing and choose ‘Custom’ on Step 17 to pair them as a headset to allow

microphone input. However, you will lose audio quality and will have to repeat the pairing process of

Step 17 again to go back to normal headphone mode with high quality again
