One night in Jacob and Cindy’s bedroom – the two children are very busy with reading their new book ‘Around the world in 80 days’. Are you familiar with this

book? It was written by Jules Verne in 1837 and deals with the Londongentleman Phileas Fogg and his wager. Together with his

manservant Passepartout and Princess Aouda, he travelled around the world

in 80 days.

Look, the two kids got an old suitcase from the attic. Now they start getting dressed up as the ancient travelers. Even Guapo, the cute dog seems to have fun.

Suddenly, Jacob and Cindy have an idea: They decide to visit MINIMUNDUS the very next day to travel around the world

like Phileas Fogg did together with his friend.

Just imagine, this splendid palace is the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. She was the most favorite wife of the Indian Mogul ruler Shah Jahan.

She died during the birth of their fourteenth child. It is certainly the most beautiful monument which was built

by a sovereign in memory of a woman.

Once, the steam locomotive was the first self-propelled rail vehicle mechanical-powered. Look, Phileas is shovelling coal into the firebox.

So, heat is produced to boil the water in the boiler, which produces the steam to get the steam engine running.

In the middle of the 20th century, the locomotives powered by steam were gradually

replaced by diesel- and electric-powered trains.

Princess Aouda enjoys the fantastic view of the magnificent basilica in St. Mark’s Square. It is dedicated to the apostle Saint Mark whose remains were buried there. Since the city of Venice is in danger of sinking the cathedrale is constructed

on a pile system using 100,000 oak-timber and arch wood piles. Saint Mark’s Campanile, the bell tower is 95 m high.

This huge wall was built in the 3rd century BC to protect the Chinese empire against invasion of nomadic people*. Hundreds of thousands of workers, even prisoners

and political convicts were necessary to complete the wall. The original wall had a total length of 5,000 km, today about

half of it still exists. It is the only building in the world which can be viewed from outer space.

The marvellous mosque was built in the order of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent. He became the fourth sultan since the conquest of Constantinople (which was

Turkey’s capital in those days). Therefore, the mosque was constructed with four minarets*. You can see them very well. The Galata tower had

once been a watch tower to defence the city. Today, it serves as an observation deck.

Now, we have reached Ireland and the romantic ‘Valley of the Two Lakes‘ with this splendid monastery. It got its name from Saint Kevin who founded it in the

6th century. Students and monks* from all over the world came to this place to study.

It was the most famous school and the centre of learning Irish religion.

Since the bell tower of the church looks like a chimney, in Ireland it is commonly known

For a long time the Eiffel Tower with a height of 320 m was the highest tower in theworld. In 1889 it was designed by engineer Eiffel for the world fair. Every seventh

year the tower gets a new paint. This work requires 25 painters, 16 tonsof colour and 1,500 brushes. If it is very windy, it is said that the

tower moves back and forth up to 13 cm. Moreover, metal expands when exposed to extreme heat. So, the

tower might grow about 18 cm.

Now you are in front of London’s most historical building. There is an almost endless list of famous men and women who were tortured and executed there and who

Now the route of our journey leads us through a deep and narrow gorge to the desert. There, we will find the desert city Petra with its impressive temple. Just imagine, the temple was carved out of one single rock of sandstone.

The strange rose colour of this rock gave the city an additional name, the ‘rose-red city’.

At Minimundus, this monument was carved out of a single rock of rose sandstone!

The impressive edifice which Ramesses II ordered to erect in the 13th century BC is located in the desert of Nubia. Since

it was under threat of the rising waters of the Nile, the entire site was cut into 16,000 rocks. In the 1960s it

was reassembled by huge tower cranes in a new, safe location.
