with a variety of programs, including a pilot test of The Character Effect™. Launched in seven schools, this new program equips teachers and parents to identify and focus on their strengths and those of their students to create a thriving school learning community.

Our foster care program grew not only in the number of children for whom we found temporary or permanent homes, but also in reputation by providing excellent service and compassionate support to the wonderful families who opened their hearts and homes to vulnerable children in need. We’ve built a strong and supportive community among our foster care families, and they are our biggest advocates.

“Beech Acres has been an incredibly supportive agency for my family. Navigating the foster journey can be difficult, but they always do their best to make sure their families have the tools they need to flourish.”

I personally advocated for parents, children, and families by accepting an invitation from the Children’s Home Society of America to educate members of Congress on a critical issue affecting communities across the country. I shared the impact the opioid epidemic is having on the children, families, foster parents and organizations that make up the larger child welfare system. I informed Congress that communities like ours need an integrated system of child welfare, substance use, mental health, enforcement, and other resources, so the appropriate services are available when needed to help each child and family.

Bullying, social media, school shootings, increased suicide rates, and the harrowing opioid epidemic are quickly altering our social landscape. With your help, our organization continually evolves to meet the challenges parents and children face. Beech Acres Parenting Center’s mission to inspire and equip today’s

parents, families, and communities to raise capable, caring, contributing children shows our commitment to combat these challenges today and in the future. You are making a difference every day with your support. Together we can strengthen families by creating a world in which parents’ voices matter.

Thank you!

“After just two sessions I was able to completely and totally change my relationship with my daughter for the better. I feel that I have the words now. And with those words I am able to be a better mom.”

In today’s rapidly changing world parents are facing a whole new set of challenges than the generations that preceded them. Smart phones, 24/7 information overload, and social media, have distracted today’s children, making it more challenging than ever for parents to meaningfully connect with them. Increasing rates of youth depression and suicide have parents concerned about their mental and emotional health. In all the noise, parents have lost their voice.

This past year, thanks to you, we have restored many of those voices. In this annual report you’ll have the opportunity to “hear” the impact you have made from parents themselves. In their own words. Your generous support enabled

Beech Acres Parenting Center to serve over 25,000 parents, professionals, children, and families in our community. Their families are now stronger because of you.

“Learning to be a better parent and father is key to me improving and developing a positive relationship with my son.”

This year we continued to develop Natural Strength Parenting™, our unique approach to parenting that encourages parents to be intentional and mindful with their parenting while building upon their child’s innate strengths. Programs like Parent Coaching and Parent Connext™ utilize Natural Strength Parenting™ to help parents strengthen their families.

We continued our focus on meeting families where they are by not only providing important mental health services in our three locations, but by expanding and improving our offerings in schools across the region
