2. The air handling section is provided with one inch thick 3 Ib/ft3 (48 kg/m3) density fiberglass insulation as a standard. This will prevent condensation from forming on the casing. Insulation meets the requirements of NFPA 90A and isprotected against deterioration and erosion from air currents. As an option, double skin (inner wall) with two inch thickfiberglass insulation can be provided.
3. Filters can be easily accessible through the filter access rack. Two inch Synthetic filters are standard for all models. Also, as an option two inch Aluminum filters can be provided. Optional modules such as pre-filters plus bag filters andlow velocity filter can also be provided to enhance air filtration.
4. Evaporator coils are of the corrugated fin-and-tube type, constructed of seamless inner grooved copper tubes (3/8"dia.) and mechanically bonded to enhanced louvered aluminum fins for maximum heat transfer efficiency. As anoption, corrugated copper fins or coated aluminum fins or other coated coils may be provided. The fins have fullself spacing collars, which completely cover each tube. The staggered tube design improves the thermal efficiency.End plates and tube support sheets are 18 gauge galvanized steel, formed to provide structural strength. Each evapo-rator coil is pressure tested in the factory at 300 psi air pressure respectively. Coils conform to ARI 410.
DRIP ELIMINATOR (OPTIONAL): If velocity across the coil is above 500 FPM, eliminator is recommended. Eliminatorsare made of plastic material and it’s placed between coil & blower. This arrangement eliminates water carry over.
5. Drain pan is provided under the evaporator (cooling) coil and shall incorporate threaded connection on single side. Thedrain pan is made of G-90 galvanized steel. As an option, stainless steel drain pan can be provided.
6. Evaporator fans are of centrifugal type with forward curved blades for models (BMY020 - BMY070) & backward curvedblades for models (BMY080 - BMY095) capable of handling total required airflow & static pressure in the publishedranges. The choices of fan configurations are top and front supply air arrangements to provide optimum installationflexibility. Casing and impeller is made of galvanized steel. Fan drive is through adjustable pitch pulleys and V-beltdrive. Blower motor is mounted on anti-vibration pads on adjustable base and secured by locking device. Alignmentand tensioning can be done in the field without moving the motor from the base frame. Blower housing and motor aremounted on vibration pads. Fan wheels, shaft and bearings are selected to operate at 25% below first critical speed.Pillow block bearings are selected for at least 200,000 hours average life at design operating conditions. Shaft isturned, ground and polished from solid steel. Fans and pulleys are keyed to shafts and design for continuous operationat maximum motor horse power and fan speed. All rotating components & assemblies are statically and dynamicallybalanced and every unit is vibration tested before shipment from the factory.
7. Blower motors are of the open drip proof (ODP) type to NEMA design class B insulation and across-the-line start arestandard for models (BMY020 - BMY070), while totally enclosed fan cooled motors (TEFC) type with class F insulationare standard for models (BMY080 - BMY095) and available as an option for models (BMY020 - BMY070).
OPTIONAL ITEMSA. MIXING BOXThe optional mixing box has front return air arrangement with fresh air opening is always from the side of the unit and isfixed on the same unit for (BMY020 - BMY070) while it will be shipped separately for (BMY080 - BMY095). Additionalaccessories such as return and fresh air dampers (oppose blade) and rain hood can be provide.
B. ECONOMIZER/CO2 MONITORINGThe economizer permits low-cost operation by utilizing cool outdoor air for free cooling. A damper on the economizercontrols the amount of outdoor air and on closed position it provides a leak proof seal. It can easily be adjusted for 100%outdoor air, 100% return air or any proportions of mixed air.
The Economizer is operative either by a dry bulb Outdoor Air Thermostat (OAT) or a Solid State Enthalpy Controller (EC)to sense the outdoor air temperature. The unit is equipped with an electronic control board, the economizer controller witha sensitive feedback system carefully modulating the damper to allow correct percentage of fresh air and return air. Theeconomizer controller is designed to match with Zamil electronic thermostat.
4
1. OUTDOOR AIR THERMOSTAT (OAT) ECONOMIZER CONTROLEconomizer operation is governed by outdoor temperature and unit OAT setting, as follows:
a. Outdoor Temperature > Outdoor Air Thermostat (OAT) setting: (High ambient)If the thermostat calls for cooling, the economizer damper moves to minimum position, simultaneously blower motor,compressor-1 & fan motors would start. If further cooling is required, compressor-2 also starts with a time delay. After the thermostat is satisfied the compres-sors are staged out. The economizer controller moves the damper automatically to closed position simultaneously theblower is also shutdown.
b. Outdoor Temperature < Outdoor Air Thermostat (OAT) setting: (Low ambient)As the cooling load would be low, the economizer controller will operate as stage-1 of cooling system first switchingON the blower motor simultaneously modulating the damper in steps to required position, allowing the cool outside airinto indoor side. If further cooling is required compressor-1 & fan motors will switch ON as stage-2 of the system, whereas compressor-2 is pulled out of service. As the room temperature is attained, economizer controls will cut-offthe compressor, fan motors simultaneously closing damper to fully closed position.
2. ENTHALPY SENSOR FOR ECONOMIZER CONTROLThe solid state enthalpy sensor is capable of accurately sensing outdoor air enthalpy content (temperature & humidity)and controlling the economizer damper for the minimum heat content introduce to the evaporator coil. Thereby, providingan efficient & economical system operation.
3. CO2 MONITORIndoor air quality (IAQ) is becoming more and more important, CO2 monitoring give an indication of the amount of CO2inside a facility. Once it is exceeding a certain level it sends a signal to the control system demanding for fresh air toreplace the inside poor quality air. The control is responding in opening the damper and at the same time there is input inthe control for an exhaust relief fan externally connected to the unit as it purge the poor quality air.
5
ECONOMIZER SYSTEM WITH CO2 MONITOR
C. ULTRA VIOLET LIGHT FOR IMPROVED INDOOR AIR QUALITYWhy use "UV FLOWTM" solution for IAQ:1. Improved Overall Indoor Air QualityWhen used for general IAQ control, UV FLOWTM products can successfully:
• Control fungi in HVAC systems to reduce or eliminate mold-related allergies.• Prevent the development of different types of bacteria.• Reduce the spread of cold and flu viruses and other airborne-transmitted diseases.• Eliminate odors and maintain a fresh air smell indoors.
UV FLOWTM Emitters pose no risk to components, equipment or inhabitants. Their non-chemical energy kills organismswithout producing secondary contamination and costs little to operate.
2. Save Energy and Cut CostsUV FLOWTM can reduce maintenance cost as UVC lights successfully eliminate the bio-film (dirt) that fouls surface of heatexchangers - completely cleaning and continuously maintaining coils and drain pans to 'as new' conditions. This in turnimproves heat-transfer efficiency, coil pressure drop, and fan performance.
D. ELECTRIC HEATERSElectric heaters are of the resistance open coil type and conform to the requirements of UL 573 or equivalent. Electricalcharacteristics, kW capacities and number of stages are as indicated. Thermal cut-outs, fusible links and airflow switchesare provided to shut-off power to heaters in case of airflow failure.
E. ELECTRONIC THERMOSTATGeneral information: Electronic thermostat shall control one or two stage heating and cooling applications. The thermo-stat normally displays room temperature and mode of operation. The temperature can be set by up/down buttons for both cooling and heating cycles. The thermostat also allows you toselect continuous fan operation, or have the fan on intermittent operation with the equipment. The thermostat is best located about 1500 mm (5 Ft.) above floor level, on a partition wall (not an outside wall), and shouldnot be exposed to direct light from lamps, sun etc. It should be in return air stream, away from supply air registers/diffusers.

SELECTION PROCEDURE1. Determine cooling and heating capacity requirements at design conditions
Data:Condenser entering air temperature : 1150FEvaporator entering air temperature : 800F DB / 670F WBEvaporator airflow : 14,000 CFMRequired cooling capacity : 420,000 BTUHSensible heat capacity : 300,000 BTUHRequired heating capacity : 40 kWExternal static pressure : 1.6 INCH WG.Power supply (V-Ph-Hz) : 460-3-60Unit type : Front fan supply (front return air)
2. Unit selection based on required cooling capacityEnter cooling capacity performance data at condenser entering air temp. at 1150F and evaporator entering air temp. 800FDB, 670F WB, 14000 CFM airflow. The BMY040 with CDX040 (matching condensing unit) will give 474,000 BTUH cool-ing capacity (gross) and 354,000 BTUH sensible heat capacity (gross).
3. Electric heater selectionHeating capacity required = 40 kW.Enter electric heating table for BMY040 at 460-3-60 power supply.40 kW heater at 460 volts satisfies the required heating.
4. Determine fan speed and power requirements at design conditionsBefore entering the fan performance tables, calculate the summation of external static pressure for the required compo-nents as follows.
External static pressure : 1.6 INCH WG.Additional module : NIL
1.6 INCH WG.Enter fan performance table for BMY040 model. For 14000 CFM and external static pressure of 1.6 INCH WG, it require1006 RPM and 12.25 brake horse power (BHP) wherein the standard motor will meet job requirements.
5. Determine input power to motorUse fan motor efficiency table.
Blower motor watts = BHP x 746 watts = 12.25 x 746 = 10,042 watts.Motor efficiency 0.91
6. Determine net capacitiesAbove capacities are gross and do not include blower motor heat gain.Determine net capacities as follows:
Net cooling capacity = Gross cooling capacity – blower motor heat= 474,000 – (10,042 WATTS x 3.413 BTUH/WATTS) = 439,727 BTUH
Net sensible capacity = 354,000 – (10,042 WATTS x 3.413 BTUH/WATTS) = 319,727 BTUH
7.To calculate leaving air conditions (see footnote for capacity tables)DBL = DBE – (Sensible Capacity (Btuh) / 1.08 x CFM)WBL = DBL – [DR (DBE – WBE)]
When sensible capacity approaches 1.0, especially at enteringDB higher than 800F, find DBL in the same manner above, butWBL is to be found from intersection of DBL Line on a psychro-metric chart with the horizontal line of humidity ratio (W) where(at SHR = 1), WL = WE.

NOTES: 1. Direct interpolation is permissible – Do not extrapolate.2. Capacities above are based on DBE = 800F. For higher or lower DBE, add following Correction Factor to Sensible Capacity= 1.08 x CFM (1 – DR) (DBE – 80).3. To calculate leaving conditions, follow this procedure: DBL = DBE – (Sensible Capacity (Btuh) / 1.08 x CFM); WBL = DBL – [DR (DBE – WBE)].4. Total unit power input based on nominal CFM & 1.0 ESP.

SOUND LEVEL DATATo obtain sound pressure level measured 5 ft. (1.6 m) directly opposite the center of blower inlet:
1. From performance table at operating conditions, find BHP, RPM and static efficiency (SE).
SE = (CFM x TSP)/(6362 x BHP) (See step 4 & table below).
2. Read dBA level from respective graph at operating BHP & SE (%).
3. Knowing RPM, select proper row from sound power factor table and dBA level to each values in row to obtain soundpower level (dB re 10-12).
4. Calculate TSP (Total Static Pressure) as follows:
TSP = ISP + ESP.
ESP (External Static Pressure) from Job Specification.
ISP (Internal Static Pressure) Calculate from table below.
NOTES:1. If you have additional section such as bag filter, drip eliminator, etc., add internal losses as shown in the static pressure
drop table.2. Pressure drop across filter, coil and blower are included in ISP.

C. TUBING INSTALLATIONDo not remove plugs from the compression fittings until tubing has been run and is ready for connection.a. Make sure the tubing is round, without dent or burrs.b. Cut tubing to the length required with a tube cutter carefully. Do not use a hacksaw.c. Remove burr from inside and outside using file or deburring tool.NOTE: Always use a gear type tube bender when making bends in suction line. When installing tubing through walls or along side of any structural members, be sure the tubing is isolated from thesemembers or walls to avoid any transmission of vibration that may occur, while unit is running.
ELECTRICALSTEP 1: INSTALLATIONA) Please ensure power supply to the unit is as per unit nameplate (Volts/Ph/Hz) requirements.Caution: Operation of the unit on improper power supply will result in damage to the unit.NOTE: Use copper wires of proper rating for all field wiring.WarningBefore servicing or installation of the unit, always TURN OFF all power to the unit. There may be more than one discon-nect switch. Ensure all of them are turned off. Electrical shock can cause personal injury or death.
B) Ground & power wiresConnect power wires to terminal block per wiring diagram.Connect ground wire to the ground lug inside the control box.
C) Control wiring between outdoor & indoor unitUse 16 gauge color-coded wire between the indoor and outdoor units (control wiring).
STEP 2: START-UPRefer to outdoor unit installation instructions for system start-up instructions and refrigerant charging method details.
STEP 3: SEQUENCE OF OPERATIONWith power supplied to indoor and outdoor units, the unit starts responding to the thermostat mode requirement.
Cooling mode: When thermostat calls for cooling, the blower motor in the indoor unit is switched on. The compressorcontactor is energized to start the compressor and condenser fan.As the conditioned space approaches the thermostat cooling set point, the unit cycles off.
Heating mode: When thermostat calls for heating, the blower motor in the indoor unit is switched on. The contactor forelectric heater is switched on to energize the heaters. If the room temperature is not satisfied and there are two heatersinstalled, the second heater also will be energized.Once, the conditioned space approaches the desired temperature set point, the heating stages cycles off.
Fan mode: In this mode the indoor unit blower motor is switched on alone.
