The curriculum delivery consists of

four components namely Lecture

(L), Tutorial (T), Practical (P) &

Self-study (S) and three modes

namely Theory, Practical and Self-

learning. Based on the components

and mode of delivery, the courses

are classified into three types in

the similar lines that of the

learning domains of Bloom’s

Taxonomy.

CURRICULUMcourse formation and types

The types of Courses:

Regular/Normal Course is a course

which has only one component i.e.,

theory or practical

Integrated Course is a course which has

both theory and practical components

Comprehensive Course is a course which

has all the three components namely

theory, practical and self-study

Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) is

given 50% weightage

The CIE shall be conducted by the faculty

handling the course.

Alternative Assessment Tools to provide

flexibility to the faculty

Assessment of CIE consists of test, quiz,

assignment, seminar, term paper, open

ended experiments, two minute video,

MOOCs etc.

The assessment rubrics shall be announced

to the students well in advance.

Semester End Examination (SEE) is given 50% weightage.

SEE shall be conducted jointly by the course teacher and external examiner.

The SEE answer scripts first evaluated by the course instructor which are subjected to review by an external examiner.

The external examiners are assigned for question paper review, checking random samples of answer scripts, analysis of results/grades awarded.

BMSCE was one of the first college

to participate in QEEE, an MHRD

initiative (since Jan 2014).

Every semester around 1000

students participate in the program.

Last semester 300+ students

received certificates of excellence

and participation.

BMSCE achieved highest

appreciation of being

PARTNER under QEEE program based

on participation and commitment in

achieving the program objectives.

QUALITY ENHANCEMENT IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION (QEEE)

BLENDED LEARNINGe-Yantra

IITB

e-Yantra Project

The project envisages to harness young intellectual

talent to create utility based robotic applications for

usage across a variety of applications such as

manufacturing, home, defense, maintenance and

services industries

Blended MOOCs Pilot

BMSCE participated in the pilot of IITB initiative to impart

quality education under MOOCs. As a part of it, students of

ME, CS, IS & TE enrolled for the MOOCs courses along with

their conventional classes. A 10% of weightage of CIE was

allotted for MOOCs quiz conducted by IITB. Thus, the

students were exposed to IIT faculty and worked along

with the IIT students. This study yielded the following

outcomes:

Benchmarking with the IIT and Peer Institutions

Alignment of syllabus with IIT offered courses

Students exposed to new patterns of assessments

Validation to the MOOCs

students

Project activities from first year for developing skills through project based

learning

Collaboration with foreign Universities for academic and Research activities

MOOCs Laboratory created for providing online access to the MOOC courses

A good number of faculty/students have completed their MOOCs

MOOCs are included into the curriculum (two MOOC courses & e-books are

prescribed for every course)
