    Canadian Armed Forces

    Primary Reserve CooperativEducation Program:

    This Cooperative Education Program will be

    conducted with students from participatingThunder Bay schools.

    Training will be afternoons in the secondsemester of each academic year.

    Students will learn fun and exciting skillsthat will apply to their time with theCanadian Armed Forces in addition toeveryday life.

    38 Canadian Brigade Group (38 CBG) hasbeen operating this successful PrimaryReserve BMQ Cooperative Program (BMQCo-op) in Thunder Bay since 1999.

    Who Is Eligible?• Student MUST BE a Canadian Citizen

    • Student MUST HAVE a minimum of15 Grade 10 credits

    • Student MUST BE at least 16 years of age,and have parental/guardian consent

    For the Student Students will earn pay and up to two secondaryschool credits plus your Basic Military Qualication(BMQ) when you train with the Canadian ArmedForces Reserve Force.

    The course emphasizes responsible citizenship andgives students a chance to develop and expandleadership skills.

    Students will learn valuable and transferable

    work and life skills. These include: written andverbal communications skills; First Aid; re safetyand WHIMIS; physical tness training; survivaltechniques; safe weapons handling and rangepractice.

    Graduates of this program will be provided anopportunity for part-time and full-time employmentfollowing the course, along with the prospect ofa subsidized post-secondary education.

    Applying to theBMQ Co-op Program:

    Students must select the BMQ Co-opoption during course selection and pickup a co-op package from the schoolcouncillor. The co-op package will havedetailed instructions on how to do theinitial online application, and how to

    complete the required paperworkthat follows.

    Once completed, the paperwork should bebrought back to the school or directly to theThunder Bay Recruiting Ofce.

    Our recruiter will be available throughoutthe process for any questions or assistance.

    Deadline for 2017 BMQ Co-opapplicants is November 1, 2016.

    This BMQ Co-op provides a structuredlearning environment and is designed toimprove the self-condence, responsibilityand accountability of the students enrolled.

    Military instruction is provided by the

    Army with no cost to the school system.Regular progress reports are providedfor students with achievable, measurablegoals for all participants.

    Primary ReserveService

    Successful applicants will be enrolledinto the Canadian Armed Forces PrimaryReserve Force. Reservists are notrequired to serve a specic term and canrelease voluntarily at any time.

    After the BMQ Co-op Program, studentsmay choose to continue to serve as areservist, pursue a full-time career in the

    Canadian Armed Forces, or release fromthe Canadian Armed Forces.
