Ready, set… Emergency
relocates Wed 7 August 2019
Emergency will relocate to the new
building from 8am on Wednesday, so
it’s been all hands on deck as we get
ready to move.
Emergency includes a spacious waiting
area, reception, triage, resuscitation,
acute care, short stay, urgent care, and
satellite imaging, with space to expand
as services grow.
There will be a new Emergency-only
drop-off via Marcel Crescent and a
dedicated emergency parking zone.
Patients should be advised to follow the
road signs and check the local parking
signs for information.
The new parking map is available here
http://bit.ly/BlacktownEmergencyMap
Public information is available on our
website.
Staff please check your MOVE Bulletins
for up-to-date info and follow our
progress on Facebook/BMDH Project.
The current Emergency Department
area will be redeveloped for
Outpatients and Endocrinology as part
of the next stage of the project.
Emergency staff on a test run in the acute pod with their “patient” Reza. There were several suggestions as to the nature of his “condition” but due to patient confidentiality, we can’t confirm or deny anything. He was, however, well enough to return to the work straight after his successful “treatment”.

EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT Patient Information |Building A | Level 2
Blacktown Hospital Emergency will move to
the new Building A on Wednesday 7 August
2019.
The department will include:
Reception – to quickly take your details
Triage – to assess the urgency of your
emergency
Acute Care and Resuscitation – for
critical and serious emergencies
Urgent Care – for less urgent
emergencies which can be managed
more quickly and easily so you can get
home sooner
Short stay – for patients who need to
stay a little longer than four hours
because we are waiting tests results,
further consultation or to observe your
condition.
Emergency includes comfortable waiting
areas and patient amenities. There is also a
walkway to the Atrium for shops and cafes.
Please remember that people with the
most serious and urgent conditions will
always be seen first, and those with less
serious conditions may have to wait until
the doctor is free.
KEEP EMERGENCY FOR EMERGENCIES
Many minor injuries and illnesses can be
treated by your local doctor or medical
centre.
You can also ask your pharmacist for advice
or call Healthdirect helpline on 1800 022
