Illustrate your answer with suitable examples and

diagrams wherever necessary. Write the relevant

question number before writing the answer.

1.1 Define 'library catalogue' and elucidate its

purpose. Explain the implied guidelines of the

five laws of library science for a library catalogue.

1.2 Explain the data elements of the main entry

according to CCC with examples.

2.1 Mention the qualities of a good physical form of

the library catalogue. Which physical form of the

catalogue would you prefer for your library and

why ? Discuss.

library Catalogue Explain. Bring out the

differences between a Dictionary Catalogue and

a Classified Catalogue with reference to their

filing problems and the respective solutions as

provided in ALA filing rules.
