SAFE Scholarships need applicantsThe Foundaticn for Safer Athletic Field Environments (SAFE) was

created by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) to provide scholarshipseducational programs and research geared to sports fields Scholarships are a keypart of this program

Significant scholarship funding is available for 2004 thanks to the funds raisedthrough the combination of the Jacobsen-sponsored SAFE Golf Tournament andthe Raffle Silent and Live Auctions that took place at last Januarys STMAConference The SAFE Board has authorized the allocation of up to $18000 indirect Scholarship dollars and funds toward travel and lodging expenses to allowthe recipients to attend the STMA 2005 Conference in Phoenix January 19-232005

Scholarships are available for those in Community College or other z-vear pro-grams for those in undergraduate programs and for graduate students Alongwith the monetary award of the scholarship each recipient is provided with regis-tration to the 2005 STMA Conference and up to $500 to be applied toward traveland lodging expenses related to attending the Conference The scholarships arepresented at the Awards Banquet which will be held on Friday evening January21 at the Hyatt Regency Phoenix hotel
