Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel "So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole Earth." Revering these enriching words, NSS‐SVC celebrated Unity Day on 31 October,2019 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the envisionary who united the country. Our itinerary of programmes began with a Run for Unity early morning in the college grounds. The NSS family was joined by spirited students who lent their support to our initiative. This was followed by a Pledge for Unity wherein the students reaffirmed their will to dedicate themselves to uphold the unity, integrity and sovereignty of our country. Their sincerity towards spreading the message of unity was utmost. The embellishment on our platter was a Nukkad Natak prepared by Unkumt‐ the Nukkad Natak team. The act beautifully displayed how the class we belong to distances us from the others and why it is important to break this "glass ceiling". Deeply stirred by the performance, the students, then, geared up for a lecture by Dr HC Tandon who took us back in history to the challenges faced in uniting the country and how the gifted Sardar Patel skilfully managed to overcome these. His address reiterated the need for Unity today and left the audience amazed, if not enlightened. What we sought to imbibe and spread through our effort was the essentiality of true Unity, especially as the nation evolves to face new challenges over time.
