Biotin Interference in the Siemens Centaur TnI Assays Effective June 1 st , 2016 Providence Health & Services Oregon Laboratories will be including the following comment in the Siemens Centaur TnI assays: “Excessive Biotin may affect TnI results. Serial monitoring is not affected. Contact Client Services at 503-215-6660, if there are any questions.” In a recent communication, Siemens Healthcare Laboratory Diagnostics informed us that Biotin causes an increase in the Centaur TnI assay as shown in the table below. Siemens has declared that they are actively investigating the root cause of this issue and looking for solutions on a new formulation of reagent. We interpret this interference as having low clinical impact; however, we are required to share this information to increase awareness. For more information, please contact Drs. Biotin Interference in the Siemens Centaur TnI Assays
