Biotech Job Search Assistant Day 06/10/2010 Client Analysis Khanh Chau 6/10/2010
The Nummi Reemployment Center (NRC) project was officially opened
on April 1st, 2010 with the mission to smooth the career transition of
4000+ Nummi dislocated workers who were impacted by the NUMMI
plant closure.
The Business Services Team of the NRC organized a job search assistant
day for the bio-technology industry cluster on Jun 10, 2010, two
months after the project started.
At the very early stage of the project cycle, we would like to learn in-
depth clients’ needs and goals, targeting to design future services
delivery in meeting clients’ interest and to achieve the project
deliverable time line. We focus in learning clients’ geographic pattern,
next six-month career goals, and targeted job of interest.
I have conducted a client survey analysis based on the survey findings
from the event using Excel Pivot Table. The followings are findings:
We have 29 clients participated at the event.
Nummi clients live in a large geographic span across East Bay area.
Out of 38% in clients’ pool live in Fremont, 10% from Hayward, 10%
from San Jose, and the rest come from many other cities of the East
Bay area of California.
Nearly 59% of clients are actively looking for jobs, 38% of which are
in the middle zone - looking for jobs right away or obtaining TTA
trainings to upgrade skills in their career transitions.
There is a high concentration of clients’ interest in the blue collar
job and in the manufacturing environment; out of which, 83%
clients look for Assembler job, 10% look for Quality Control or
Technician positions.
