International biometric Association conducted the tests of algorithms of fingerprint identification. Requests for testing submitted more than 120 companies from differ-ent countries. The tests were conducted on several data-bases. According to two databases of the fingerprints received from optical and thermal sensors, the company won the first place. In a general result it was the 2nd place.

At the international competition Sonda Technology was awarded with a gold medal "Guarantee of quality and security" for development and implementation of an Automated Fingerprint Identification System Sonda included with the scanner of fingerprints inkless rolling, Sonda LS5 and the system of access restriction to com-puter, Sonda Logon. The competition was held in the framework of the VIII International forum of security protections of the state INTERPOLITEX-2004.

November 2004

On the testing of Slap Fingerprint Segmentation Evalua-tion held by the National institute of Standards and Tech-nology of the USA, the algorithm Sonda showed the best results on the base of problem fingerprints, and on fingerprints of good and excellent quality it appeared in top three. In the overall ranking the company was includ-ed into top three along with such companies as NEC (Japan) and Sagem (France).

December 2004

In celebration of the 100 anniversary of forensic services of Uruguay Sonda was awarded an honorary diploma and a commemorative medal for merits in the organiza-tion of the fingerprint accounting of the country.

September 2005

International biometric Association, which includes the University of Bologna, state University San Jose, Michi-gan state University and independent University of Madrid, held a competition FVC-2006 testing algorithms of fingerprint identification to reveal the best develop-ment in this area. 53 companies and research institute participated in a competition. Sonda won first place in the database created by means of optical scanners.

March 2006

The testing of the new version of AFIS Sonda-8 Enterprise on the database containing more than 5 million tenprints and 23 000 latents took place in the Expert and Crimi-nalistic Center of the MIA of Russsia. Results showed full compliance of new AFIS to qualifying standards. Search speed on one processor of 3,0 GHz for requests of «tenprint-tenprint» averaged 169046 comparing a second.

In the jubilee XV International conference and thematic exhibition «Informatization and information safety of law enforcement agencies» AFIS Sonda was awarded with diploma of the Academy of management of MIA of Russia.

In order to improve the safety of the personnel engaged in international Maritime traffic and, subject to threats of international terrorism, the international Labour Organi-zation approved and accepted a new convention on seafarers' identity document, also known as Convention 185. At this Convention, the seafarers' identity document shall, in addition to a strip code to contain a fingerprint for identification of the owner. Sonda, is the first and only from Russia, which successfully passed the system certi-fication for compliance with international standards.

Requirements to biometric identification systems are strongly increased. Appli-cation of Biometry in such new areas as biometric passport, voting control, rapid identification of citizens supposes complete automation of all processes without participation of experts-criminalists. Sonda Technology participated in the tests Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test (MINEX) in the framework of the certification standard INCITS 378. This standard is used in biometric documents. The purpose of testing was determination of a possibility of practical use in software solutions not of all papillary pattern of a finger but only its crucial elements. Sonda showed the best result with the minimum percent of mistakes in a com-parison algorithm.

The information service of criminal trial of FBI (FBI CJIS Division) conducted a testing of the algorithm of finger-prints printing on the Hewlett-Packard Laser Jet 1018 laser printer. Tests were carried out under the leadership of representatives of FBI and laboratory of processing fingerprints at the MITRE corporation located in Bedford, the State of Massachusetts. The test results confirmed the high quality of the algorithm developed by Sonda Technology.

December 2009

Sonda won the first place in «Trials of the software realiz-ing the technology of biometric identification by finger-prints» organized by Institute of Informatics problems at the Russian Academy of Sciences (IPI ran) together with the FMS. Such well-known companies as Safran Morpho (France), 3M Cogent (USA), NEC (Japan) took part in tests. From domestic enterprises along with Sonda the companies Intek and Biolink participated. The upgraded version of Sonda with accelerators of search showed the best time and the smallest percent of errors on the data-base of 590 thousand tenprints.

October 2013

According to the results of tests FpVTE NIST-2014 Sonda entered the top five and has taken a worthy place among the world leaders in the field of biometrics - NEC, 3M/ Cogent, Morpho. The purpose of this testing is evaluation of algorithms for the comparison of fingerprints in the identification mode one-to-many in multimillion databas-es. In all tests Sonda confidently took up positions in the top five. Sonda algorithms showed high accuracy com-parison along with the high search speed and consider-able savings of computational resources for most combi-nations of fingerprints.

The advanced Sonda's fingerprint algorithm was tested on one of the most difficult tests of FVC - FVC-HARD-1.0. It showed the best result among other participants and proved the priority of Sonda’s technology. Sonda took the first place on a number of important indicators: FMR (10000), FMR (1000), Zero (FMR). The verification speed of this algorithm did not exceed 9 ms.

SONDA TECHNOLOGIES: HISTORY

In 1992 the company developed its first version of the AFIS which was installed for the pilot operation in Expert-Criminalistic Department at DIA of Magnitogorsk. In 1993 Sonda AFIS ranked first in testing by ECC at the Russian MIA in the search mode «latent - fingerprints». From that time Sonda AFIS started to spread in Russia.

At the beginning of the new millennium Sonda enters the international biometric market to establish contacts with partners in Asia (India, Korea, Japan, China), the Middle East (Pakistan, Iraq, Syria), South America (Uruguay, Peru, Guatemala).

The highly qualified Sonda team constantly improved AFIS versions and developed new software applications with distinctive features, simple installation and mainte-nance, reliable operation and searching engine of high performance.

The high quality of Sonda’s biometric algorithms was regularly confirmed by the independent international testings - MINEX, FVC, SlapSeg, IPI RAN, NIST FpVTE-12, where in a great number of tests of Sonda’s algorithms confidently occupied the first places.

In addition to software the company started to produce optical fingerprint scanners of its own design. The result was highly reliable and accurate scanners which had no

analogues in the world and could read 120° surface of a finger due to the unique volumetric concave prism. This prism allowed capturing a full fingerprint without enroll-ing, thus, facilitating and speeding up the process of registration and providing high quality and identification accuracy.

Sonda team received 64 patents for biometric solutions: the method of identification, software and hardware solutions, and a number of international certificates and diplomas as well.

High-tech products attracted investments of the closed mutual funds high-risk venture investments - venture fund «S-Group Ventures». It served as a powerful impetus to the company enhancement. The team launched devel-opment of various biometric systems for civil use such as access control, time & attendance tracking, medical-ge-netic consulting based on palm and fingerprints and so on.

The Sonda team developed AFIS of next generation with the rate of identification speed 3-5 times higher and entered top three of world leaders. A wide range of software development modules were developed as well to build almost any fingerprint identification system from the national ID-card and biometric passports to the local access control systems.

The high quality of Sonda’s biometric algorithms regular-ly confirmed by the independent international testings - NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology, MINEX (Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test), FVC (Fingerprint Verification Competition), SlapSeg, ELFT (Evaluation of Latent Fingerprint Technologies) IPI RAN Institute of Informatics Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, NIST - FpVTE-12 (Fingerprint Vendor Tech-nology Evaluation 2012).

In all these tests Sonda consistently wins prizes. Sonda is certified by ILO (the International Labour Organization) for the seafarer's ID cards.

In the large-scale tests conducted by NIST FpVTE-12 completed in 2014 Sonda showed good results and entered the top five of world leaders along with such biometric giants as NEC (Japan), Morpho/Safran (France) 3M Cogent (USA).

FINGERPRINT INSTEAD OF CARDS

Protecting clients' accounts from frauds.Card issuance is not required (virtual cards may be provided for transition period). For increasing reliability several fingers may be used.

SAFE TECHNOLOGY

Finger fake is excluded due the anti-fake scanners and additional software protection. Interception of fingerprint image is excluded due to image processing and encrypting template in the very scanner.Applying finger under duress is excluded due to the func-tion «alarming finger». PROTECTION OF BANK CARDS

Magnetic cards: verification on the personalization center server.A customer instead of a password puts his finger to the scanner, and a fingerprint template is formed. This template is encrypted and sent together with the card details to the personalization center for inspection.Memory cards: standalone verification in ATMs.The card chip stores templates of two fingers of standard format. A client instead of a password applies the regis-tered finger on the scanner. A template is formed from the captured fingerprint. This template is compared with one stored in the card.

The system is designed for an objective accounting of staff working time by logging the time of arrival and departure by fingerprints.

Working time & attendance tracking system stores the time of arrival and departure of employees. All entries are logged in e-journal which is used to generate various reports on working hours, absenteeism, tardiness and delays. The system operates in a standalone mode and does not require additional maintenance.

Employee applies his finger to the scanner on arrival and departure, the system compares his fingerprint with templates stored in the database and records his time of passage. All these personal data goes to the central server of the enterprise. Identification time does not exceed 3 seconds. Personal messages or corporate announcements may be displayed on the terminal screen.

The system perfectly operates at any enterprise of any structure and with any number of employees. Time & attendance terminals can operate in a standalone mode or work as a part of the entire network including all remote departments of the enterprise.

TIME & ATTENDANCE TRACKING

Registration of staff may be performed in the personnel department or directly on terminals by a chief. Instead of passwords access to the registration menu is granted by a finger registered especially for this purpose.

All data input on the touch screen of the terminal. The system automatically checks the quality of fingerprints and if that is poor, the system prompts you to re-capture your fingerprints.

Fingerprint templates are transfered from the terminal local database to the central server. One can register any fingers from 2 to 10. To ensure the accuracy of dupli-cates searching it is recommended to register all ten fingers.

The terminal of working hours accounting is constructed on the basis of the tablet computer with the touch screen and the built-in fingerprint sensor. When applying a finger to the scanner an identification of the employee is executed and time of its arrival or leaving is marked. On the screen at that time, the name and the photo of the employee is displayed. The design of the device is wall-mounted or desktop version.

Information transfer to the Central server is realised through the internal network Ethernet, WiFi or 3G. The volume of the local database of the terminal may reach several tens of thousands of people.

Due to special technology of optical scanner and software the terminal provides a reliable and accurate identification of problematic fingers (dry and moist skin, the presence of a large number of tucks)

Employees and a management of the organization can't interfere with operation of the terminal. The terminal works completely in the autonomous mode, and even in case of power off keeps the working capacity within several hours. None of employees have access to the database and results of identification.

Additionally, the terminal can be equipped with a built in camera to take photos of the staff during the registration process, and also for record of the persons making vandal or non-standard actions.

Monitoring of borrowers on biometric parameters (facial image, fingerprints) allows to identify the unscrupulous borrowers, exclude attempts to obtain credit on someone else's passport and to reduce the possibility of errors in case of execution of contracts.

Identification of unscrupulous borrowers is most effective in case of interaction with Bureau of credit histories in which database information on the unscrupulous borrowers who were arranging the credit agreement in other bank according to other documents, or having problems with repayment of the loan is stored.

According to the decision of security service 2 or more up to 10 fingerprints of a client may be captured. The larger amount of fingerprints increases reliability of identification and evidential base in case of trials.

The unique volumetric prism, which has no analogues in the world, reads 120° surface of the finger, and provideshigh quality and identification accuracy. Print size is much larger than the area of the image obtained by the flatbedscanner.

The Segmentation module splits the whole palm images and fingerprints of two or more fingers to further auto-matically determine separate fingerprints for further processing. The module operates with images obtained either from biometric scanners or paper tenprints.

The Sonda segmentation algorithm was on top of the NIST SlapSeg-04 and SlapSeg-06 competitions.

SEG 3.0 - SEGMENTATION

The Access Control package was developed for integrat-ing biometric fingerprint identification into card's access control systems. It is easy to install and does not require modification of a card access control system. This pack-age just integrates the fingerprint identifier to replace cards.

The communication with a card’s system is performed at the hardware level via the standard Wiegand interface. The software interface remains the same and staff access rights and reports are formed in the card’s access control system in an ordinary way.

The AC 2.0 package includes the fingerprint registration module, database of fingerprint templates and the search engine module. It is integrated with Sonda ACD7 biometric terminals to be installed on turnstiles.
