Big Square Balers

Specialists in the Art of Baling

Leader in baling technology

The ability to produce top quality bales in

all crop conditions sets Vicon LB balers

apart from all others. Perfect shaped bales,

combined with huge output and outstanding

long durability, ensure that an LB baler will

be a profitable investment. Vicon has many

years of experience in square baler

technology and this knowledge has been

put to good use, to ensure ease of

operation over long working days while

achieving consistently high daily outputs.

Profitable operation

Bale quality and density are fundamental to

the profitable operation of a square baler.

Unique Vicon innovations such as Power

Density and Integral Rotor Technology

make a real difference in field performance.

Vicon LB balers have the ability to pack the

absolute maximum into each bale,

increasing the potential for profitable

operation by reducing the cost per ton of

crop baled, whether operating in silage, hay,

straw or energy crop.

Service

Vicon LB balers are designed to keep service

requirements to an absolute minimum.

In the event of a breakdown, an extensive

network of professionally trained dealers is

fully qualified to provide expert support.

The LB 1270 makes bales from 120 cm

width, has a bale height of 70 cm and can

make bales up to 300 cm.

With or without a 23 knife cutting device.

The LB 1290 makes bales from 120 cm

width, has an adjustable bale height of 80

or 90 cm and can make bales up to 300 cm.

With or without a 23 knife cutting device.

Excellent Intake Performance

Integral Rotor – a constant flow

of crop for optimum throughput

Vicon’s Integral Rotor Technology raises

intake performance to a new level. Large

diameter, heavy duty auger flights are

incorporated directly onto the outer sections

of the rotor. Crop is positively handled by

feeding tines arranged in a helix pattern,

maintaining an even feed, regardless of

variations in swath condition. This means

the heaviest of swaths are force-fed through

the intake system, resulting in higher forward

speeds for outstanding productivity. 4

Intake

Smooth crop flow

Large diameter, height adjustable guide wheels

with pneumatic tyres carry the spring balanced

pickup over every ground contour, resulting

in the cleanest raking job. A crop baffle plate

above the pickup helps to even out the flow

of material, pre-compressing the crop in front

of the rotor regardless of conditions.

For the most awkward swaths, the baffle

plate can be equipped with a roller press to

guide it over the swath for even smoother

material flow.

Heavy duty driveline with camclutch protectioin

The ultimate in crop cutting

Next to the standard integral rotor Vicon

offers the OmniCut Intake rotor. This large

diameter rotor takes the crop directly from

the pick-up en spreads this evenly to the

pre-chamber.

Where crop chopping is required, the operator

can choose to engage all 23 knives, with a

theoretical cutting length of 45mm, or select

alternate banks of 11 or 12 knives within

seconds. Every single knife is hydraulicly

protected against foreign objects.

Inspecting, sharpening and changing the

knives is a quick and easy job. The knives of

the OmniCut rotor are mounted on a frame

that slides out from the right hand side of

the baler.

Integral Rotor Technology

Vicon’s integration of a feed rotor into the

pickup raises intake performance to a new

level. Large diameter, heavy duty auger flights

are incorporated directly onto the outer

sections of the rotor, giving the crop nowhere

to go, but inside the baler.

6

With the unique Vicon “Power Density”

feeding system uniform bale formation is

assured. Power Density constantly adapts

to the size of crop entering the pre-chamber

regardless of wether the baler is working in

a small second cut silage crop or a large swath

of dry brittle straw. The result; less bale-

handling, lower twine and wrap usage and

lower haulage cost per ton of crop baled.

Crop is fed from the intake rotor inro the

pre-chamber. A single feeder fork (red)

works at twice the speed of the plunger,

continuously clearing the entrance to the

pre-chamber and pre-compressing the crop.

As the pre-chamber is filled, pressure is

exerted on wedges (white) at the top of the

pre-chamber. At a certain point the pre-set

pressure on the wedges is overcome,

triggering the feederfork to take an extended

stroke, sweeping the pre-compressed crop

up into the bale chamber where the plunger

compresses the crop to form the bale.

The ability of the Power Density system to

always feed a consitent volume of crop to

the bale chamber ensures consistent, well

shaped bales in all conditions.

Power Density

High efficiency plunger

The plunger is driven directly from the main gearbox. The drive is

transmitted by two crank shafts and two conrods which ensure even

loading on the plunger. The Plunger is supported by extra large

guide rollers (150 mm in diameter) which run on hardened rails,

resulting in minimum friction and minimum wear. In addition the

guide rollers are placed at the easily accessible outside of the bale

chamber, greatly reducing thte risk of fouling and damage. Due to

the optimum shape of balechamber and plunger a very high density

is reached. All greasing points from the plunger are connected to

one central greasing point near the knotters.

Hydraulic system

The hydraulic bale density is controlled from your tractor seat, so

there is no need to leave your tractor. The oilflow is directly driven

from the main gearbox. By the use of a 3 meter long balechamber

this results in a denser bale. The bale is still completely in the

balechamber during tying. This prevents unwanted expansion.

Suits your Demands in Every Crop

Non Stop Baling

8

The Vicon LB series features a unique fully automatic protection

system for all vital parts in the event of an overload.

The main drive is protected by cam type torque limiters which are automatically activated in

case of an overload. They are located as close as possible to the components they protect,

including the feeder fork, rotor and pickup. No more time wasted replacing shear bolts, since

they have been completely eliminated from the main drivelines.

When a cam clutch is activated, the intake of crop is stopped. The clutch re-engages when the

operator reduces tractor PTO speed. The feeding system then works at low speed to clear

the blockage automatically before normal operation resumes. For maintenance and service

the pre-chamber inspection door easily can be opened for a clear entrance.

Increased reliability with reduced maintenance time

The automatic greasing system reduces maintenance time by taking care of all the greasing

points on the baler. This automatic greasing system is being monitored by the ISOBUS

software.

9

Easy access

With pivoting twine boxes the needle frame

and drivelines are very easily accessible for

monitoring and maintenance. The twine

boxes itself are closed to prevent pollution.

10

Binding without Stress

Less maintenance, more security

The knotters guarantee perfect bale density

by rapid and smooth tying. If the twine is not

running, this can directly be seen in the

tractor cab on the Terminal

Twine release during baling

During baling the twine release is in its normal

position and is holding tension on the twine

to ensure maximum density in the bale.

Twine release during binding

When the needles are coming upwards, the

twine release is becoming active and turns

backwards. The tension on the twine is

reduced and a tension free knot can be made.

Last bale ejector

After releasing the bale chamber pressure

the bale easliy can be moved out of the

balechamber. Standing next to the

balechamber the operator has excellent view

of the process. The bale is being moved out

of the balechamber by two rows of forced

steered tines.

Comfort in Control

ISOBUS

The new LB 1270 and LB 1290 balers are

ISOBUS compatible. That means when your

tractor is also ISOBUS compatible you, won’t

need a separate control box for the baler.

Those who don’t have ISOBUS compatible

tractors can use Vicon’s Focus or Tellus

control boxes.

Focus

With the Focus terminal you have total control

shown on a large, clear display.

With large soft-touch buttons on the Focus

terminal, baler adjustments can be easily

made from the comfort of the tractor cab.

The terminal provides all information needed

and warns in case of errors.

Tellus

The ISOBUS compatible Tellus terminal gives

increased clarity with a full-colour screen.

Machine adjustments can easily be made

with the intuitive, large soft-touch keys.

The Tellus terminal can also be used with

many other ISOBUS compatible machines.

Putting your Energy into Good Use…

Vicon LB balers are putting the engery into good use

With an LB baler on the field you will have huge capacity against low fuel consumption. Next to that and even as important the baler works in

all crop conditions. Normal agricultural crops like silage and grain are no issue but also the though engery crops like tropical grass and hemp.

These crops can be baled without any adaption to the baler.

The balers are standard equiped with heavy duty bearings, special hardened plunger knives and rails.

The Vicon LB, a Solid baler which produces Solid bales in all conditions.
