ed Georgetown for the most Final Four appearances

    with four.

HUSKIES KEEP BIG EAST IN FINAL FOUR NEWS

    04) and Syracuse (03). Recent addional appearances

were made by Louisville and Marquee just before

both schools began compeng in the BIG EAST in

2005-06. Louisville made it in 2005 and Marquee

in 2003. Fieen of the 16 league schools have played

    in the Final Four.

FINAL FOUR COACHES CLUB INCLUDES SIX

In 2009, Villanovas Jay Wright became the sixth

current BIG EAST head coach to parcipate in a Final

Four. Conneccuts Jim Calhoun is making his fourth

trip (2011, 2009, 2004, 1999). Louisvilles Rick Pino isone of only two coaches in NCAA history to lead three

dierent teams to the Final Four: Providence (1987),

    Kentucky (1997, 96, 93) and Louisville (2005). Jim

Boeheim has been to the Final Four three mes with

Syracuse (2003, 96, 87). West Virginias Bob Huggins

made it in 2010 and guided Cincinna to the 1992 Final

Four. Georgetowns John Thompson III led the Hoyas

to the Final Four in 2007.

BIG EAST MAINTAINED ELITE EIGHT STREAK

The BIG EAST is the only conference to place at least

one team in every NCAA Elite Eight since 2002. Seven

    dierent squads Conneccut (2011, 09, 04,

    02), West Virginia (2010, 05), Louisville (09, 08),

    Georgetown (07, 06), Villanova (09, 06), Pisburgh

    (09) and Syracuse (03) -- have reached the nal eightover the last 10 seasons.

HALF OF BIG EAST HAS BEEN TO SWEET 16 IN PAST

    FIVE YEARS

With the addion of Marquee this year, eight BIG EAST

teams have advanced to the NCAA Regional Seminals

over the past ve years. Conneccut last made it to

the Sweet 16 round in 2009 when it advanced to the

    Final Four.

BIG EAST LEADS IN SWEET 16 APPEARANCES

With two NCAA Sweet 16 teams this season

(Conneccut and Marquee) the BIG EAST has had

the most teams reach the regional seminal round

    over the last nine seasons.

    ACC 18

MARQUETT E IS ONLY THE SECOND LEAGUE NO. 11

SEED TO REACH THE SWEET 16

Marquee became only the second No. 11 seed from

the BIG EAST to reach the NCAA Regional Seminals.

The only other league squad to make the Sweet 16 with

a seed as low as 11 was Conneccut in 1991.

    BIG EAST RECEIVED 11 INVITATIONS

The BIG EAST Conference received a record 11 bids to

the NCAA Championship. The BIG EAST had held the

the league regular-season champion, received a No. 1

seed in the Southeast Region. Nine of the 11 teams

received a No. 6 seed or higher.

20 WINS REMAINS A GOOD YARDSTICK

When a BIG EAST team reaches 20 wins by the end

of conference tournament play, it has an excellent

chance of receiving an NCAA invitaon. Since the BIG

EAST began in 1979-80, 147 of 152 teams with 20 wins

received NCAA bids. This year, all 11 BIG EAST teams

in the NCAA Championship have at least 20 wins. Last

    seminals against non-conference opposion. Two
