Bi-Annual Report (April-Sept’12)

Aditya Birla Public School, Rayagada started the session: 2012-2013 with valuebased activity to educate the children as well as the parents of this area. Wehave tried to involve the parents’ n’ grandparents in different occasions whichare as follows:

1. Orientation Programme for the Parents of Play Class & LKG:“If you want to think one year ahead, Plant paddy,If you want to think ten years ahead, Plant trees,

But if you want to think 100 years ahead,Give education to people”- Chinese Proverb

The Aditya Birla group of schools believe in holistic & experimentalmethods of teaching that leaves a positive and lifelong impact onchildren said by the Principal in his welcome address. We want to createa platform where the students can learn beyond classrooms and nurturetheir passion in a better way.

Alcohol is a curse to mankind’- keeping the tribal belt in mind and theenormous use of alcohol in their daily life, the students presented abeautiful skit before them. It is matter of pride for us that soon after thecompletion of the skit; a parent named Mr.KhagapatiNayak cameforward & took oath to give up the practice of drinking of alcohol.

2. World Book Day:World Book Day was celebrated in our school on 23rd April 2012 withdisplay of books, songs on books, boards of school prepared on books,quiz on books & authors, preparation &presentation of book marks wasdone.

The parents were sent a message “TV. If kids are entertained by twoletters, imagine the fun they will have with 26. Open your child’simagination. Open a book”.

3. Environment Day :Environment has become a serious concern for the human civilization.Keeping in mind of this, the school celebrated the World Environmentday on 2nd of May 2012, before closing for the summer vacation withspecial morning assembly.

The children planted saplings in school & distributed the wrist bands onEach One Plant Oneto the people. The Placards on ‘Save Environment-Save Mankind’, ‘Save Wildlife-Save Mother Earth’were also displayed.

4. Independence Day & Investiture Ceremony:The 66th Independence Day was celebrated with enthusiasm & patrioticfervour by the students and staff of our school. The programme hasbegun with the unfurling of the national flag by the Chief Guest followedby the garlanding on the portrait of Sri AurobindoGhoshwhose 140th

birth anniversary was also celebrated on 15th August 2012. The childrendressed as Gandhiji, Netaji, Shivaji& Mother Teresa & presented abeautiful programme. This was appreciated by one & all.

The most awaiting programme for the students was the InvestitureCeremony wherein the Chief Guest administered the oath to the newlyappointed council members of the school.

5. Fruit Day:An apple a day keeps the doctor away is a common saying said toinculcate the value of fruits in our daily diet. Fruit Day was celebrated inour school to teach the children how fruits help us in our growth. Thechildren presented a special morning assembly with quiz & speech onFruits.

Some parents have a practice of sending the food in polythene for theirwards. We have conveyed them the harmful effects of this practice

&encouraged to send fresh food along with seasonal/local fruits in lunchbox.

6. Home Safety Week:ABPS Rayagada with the support of the Safety deptt. of UAIL, Doragudahas observed Home Safety Week in the first week of Sept’12. Theprogramme included talk show, slide show, draw competition and dentalhealth hazards by a dentist.

Safety slogans were also displayed in the school boards.

7. Farewell to Mr. S.K Mishra,CEO& MD of UAIL, Doraguda:Mr. S.K Mishra, CEO & MD, UAIL, Doraguda retired from his service on31st August 2012. He has played an important role in the establishmentof ABPS Rayagada. The school bid farewell to him on 31st August 2012.

8. Open Day:The school has also organised an Open Day on Sept.1, 2012. The parentsvisited the school along with their children & got an opportunity tointeract with the teachers.

9. Teacher’s Day :The school has celebrated the Teacher’s Day & the birth anniversary ofDr.Radhakrishnan on 5th of Sept’2012 with pomp & pleasure. A special

morning assembly was organised for the same. At the end the staffmembers played games & took lunch which was hoisted by the unit.

10.Visit ofDignatories:a. Mr.Prasant Gupta &Mr. Shiv of Aditya Birla Centre, Mumbai visited

our school on 30th May 2012. They had left very good comments onthe Visitors Diary of school- “Excellentinfrastructure. Wellmaintained& enthusiastic team. Wonderful to how UAIL is changingthe shape of these tribal kids.”

b. Mr.B.BJha, Chief of Projects, Aditya Birla Grouphas visited ourschool & expressed that the school would deliver huge social impactin this area.

c. Mr.DharaniDhara Behera, District Inspector of Schools -Rayagadahas inspected the school on 6th of Sept’12 & sent thereport to the Director of Elementary Education of Odisha to obtainNo Objection Certificate for ABPS Rayagada.

11.Intra/Inter Class Competitions:The school has conducted three important competitions in April-July-August i.e English/Hindi Recitation Competition & Colouring thePicture/Drawing Competitions. The winners were felicitated with prizesby the guests.
