including:

Learners and learning are at the centre Schools are community hubs Diversity is celebrated, and A welcoming environment

The following is an extract from the plan that highlights our direction on ‘Learners and learning at the centre’ and is based on the consolation with our community and our vision to support every child, every day:

Our focus is to inspire curious minds through innovative thinking and build a harmonious and sustainable world.  We aim to develop and share a holistic approach to education with a strong focus on inspiring all learners, adding value to our students, their sense of identity and how they can contribute to community and beyond to make a positive difference.  Students at Box Hill North will be able to identify the purpose of their learning, know what success for their journey looks like, be able to access a broad range of resources to support their learning and have clarity on their next steps for all curriculum programs and personal development.  They will become highly effective in the skills of communication, collaboration and critical thinking, while developing a strong appreciation for global citizenship, utilising technology to accelerate their learning.  Students will become acutely aware of their environment and educational needs to support their own learning and make choices accordingly.  Teachers will be able to work and plan collaboratively, using a suite of resources, structures and shared philosophy to learning, inclusive of modelling, mentoring and peer observation.  All decisions will be evidence-based and have students at the heart, with teachers using current and relevant data to inform educational plans for every student.

The next stages are detailed below and I will keep you informed as plans start to transform into visual representation.

TransitionPlans are in place to support the transition for all students into 2021.  Tomorrow, our future graduates of 2027 will experience Prep for the first time.  We’ve been able to navigate around the imposed restrictions to ensure safety is considered while being able to provide a great first experience for these students.  All other students from kinder and primary will soon begin their transition program.  Pizza OvenIt’s been a long time since this has been in action and we hope to hear the continual ease of restrictions, allowing us the opportunity to invite parents and community members back to school grounds.  Our pizza oven is desperately looking for some action and I’d like to thank the Chapman Family for their generous donation of redgum to stock up our wood pile.

Share the Dignity is an Australian charity bringing dignity to women and girls experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and period poverty through the distribution of period products. It’s in the Bag appeal gives Australian women and girls doing it tough over the holiday period a reason to smile and feel cared for, as well as restoring some of their dignity by providing them with handbags filled with essential hygiene products, as well as a few extra little treats.

Can you spare a moment and a few basic items to light up a woman’s life?

The kinder staff are supporting the charity drive again this year. Last year we proudly

collected 27 bags to donate.

Share the Dignity asks you to donate a handbag and some essential items to women and girls in need. It’s In The Bag is a simple idea which works like this:

●Donate a handbag in a good, used condition that you no longer use

●Fill it with items that will make a difference to the daily life of a woman in need

●Be sure to include the essentials such as a sealed packet of pads and tampons, roll-on deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner and soap

●Add little luxuries like lip balm, new socks, a magazine or book, jewellery, anything that would make a woman or teenage girl feel special

●You can also add a thoughtful note into the bag to show the recipient they are thought of

●Bring the bag to kinder BEFORE November 27thlocal charities. ( I am volunteering as a collector this year)
