WelcomeWelcome to Bewdley Baptist Church.

We are a community drawn from Bewdley and the surrounding areas whoshare a desire to know God better and express his love in all that we do.

We want the church to be a place where people ,whether visitor or regular attender, can be cared forand learn how to care for others.

We hope that you will find us to be an acceptingplace to be, where you will be able to freely explorethe big questions of life:

Why are we here? What is life all about? Is there more to life than this?If God exists, what is he like?

You will find that people from all ages and walks oflife are involved in the church and this booklet gives asummary of the various aspects of church life.

About Us

Bewdley Baptist Church is a group of Christians who share a desire to put Jesusat the centre of their lives. There has been a Baptist church in Bewdley since1649 and although the church has changed greatly with each generation, therestill remains a commitment to the basic values and understanding of God thatstarted the church over 350 years ago.

A God of love

The church believes that God is a God of love, who has made himself known tohumans through the life and words of Jesus Christ. This is reflected in ourservices, but also in the lives of people in the church, as they study their bibles athome and in groups meeting in other people’s homes.

We continue to believe that God calls us to love our neighbours and the peopleof the church continue to be involved in helping those in need, both in the locality, the UK and abroad

Sundays

Our main focus of worship is on Sundays - more details can be found in thisleaflet.

Living out our faith

Those involved in the church try and live out their faith each day. This involvesshowing love and compassion to those around them and getting involved inserving local communities.

Some of this is expressed through the church, in ways such as our weekly parentsand toddlers group, distributing food to those in need and the monthly seniorcitizens meal (see During the week). Others express their faith by gettinginvolved in other organisations or in theplaces where they live.

The church also has links withorganisations and individuals abroad, suchas BMS World Mission and Eagle WingsSchool in South Africa. More details ofthese can be found on our Mission page.

Sundays

Sunday Morning

The church service on a Sunday morning isthe point at which we meet to praise Godthrough singing, praying for each other andwider issues, and hearing from the bible.

It is also a time when we meet togetherand share conversations over coffee.

Age related groups are run for childrenaged from 0 to 13 years old. They all haveage appropriate teaching, involving biblestories, crafts, games and memory verses.

We regularly hold all-age services.

We also hold a number of “Church with aChoice” services, where you can choose togo to different sessions, including listeningto a sermon, singing worship songs,

chatting over a coffee, prayer ... just to name a few.

Sunday Evening

Services in the evening vary from week to week in the format that they take.

On the first Sunday of the month we hold a healing service which is anopportunity to pray for each other and pray for those people and situations inthe world where healing is required.

On most other evenings, the service is a quieter time together where we sing, read the bible and discuss what it says.

On the second and fourth Sundays, the service includes communion.

Once a term, the young people in the church lead the service

Travellers

Over a cup of coffee and cake, the group discusss the big issues of life and faithand what impact they have on our lives today.

Children and young people

Children are an integral part of the Church. We don’t agree with people who say that our“children are the church of tomorrow”;they are part of the church today.

Therefore you won’t be frowned upon if yourchild makes a noise or goes for a wanderaround while the service is taking place. Our Pastor, Simon, has children of his own, soisn’t phased by any distractions.

We aim to incorporate our children into the morning service, with lively childfriendly worship (rattles, drums and shakers are always available) and all age talks, before they move into Young Church for their own teaching programme.

Young Church

Age related groups are run for children aged from 0 to 13 yearsold. They all have age appropriate teaching, involving biblestories, crafts, games and memory verses.

AllAgeWorship

On around four Sundays a year, all the groups meet together inthe hall for Sunday All-age Worship, when we spend time

learning, worshipping and being creative together. These services include suchthings as puppets, sketches, videos and activities for all.
