Institutional Delivery

• OWDM Constituted in the year 2000 to plan , coordinate watershed programme

SUCCESS STORY OF KILABADI, KANDHAMAL DISTRICT:

Discovering new horizons of watershed-based livelihoods promotion

PROFILE:

Village name: KILABADI, at 120 km. from Phulbani (District Hq.)

Block: DARINGBADI

District Headquarters: Phulbani

Name of Watershed: KILLABADI WATERSHED

Total Treatable Area: 514 hectares

Total no. of Households: 80 (79 ST and 1 SC)

Scheme: DPAP 8th Batch(2002-03), Jeebika under State Plan

Kilabadi – a tiny village with 80 tribal households in Daringbadi block, Kandhamal district, Orissa

PROJECT INTERVENTIONS: Participatory Resources mapping

and small farmers DW was constructed with a Cost of Rs

1.5 lakhs Rs 45,000/- contributed by Farmers as

labour towards WDF Post project maintenance is done by

the FIGs Crop Planning by Farmers Training on improved farming systems

by Agriculture and Horticulture Dept. Revolving Fund of Rs. 15, 000.00

sanctioned to each of the three FIGs for cultivation of cabbage tomato, potato, brinjal, green peas etc

OUTPUTS & OUTCOMES:

60 acres of land in the Command of Diversion weir ensured one crop in Kharif

During Rabi Farmers cultivated vegetables- cabbage, tomato, potato, brinjal, green peas etc.

An additional Income of Rs. 9,900/-per acre was realized by farmers from vegetable cultivation

Food and nutritional security to all the 80 HHs in the village

Asset level of farmers increased
