Romaeuropa: music, dance, theatre “R omaeuropa”, Rome’s most exciting annual arts festival is back with a promising subtitle: “Try the impossible”. And organizers confirm that the aim of the event is to offer a programme that has world class quality, and at the same time is experi- mental and thought-provoking. The festival’s past edi- tions have all featured big names and memorable events, and this year it promises to live up to expecta- tions with the presence of such artists as Saburo Teshigawara, Peter Brook, Trisha Brown, DV8 Physical Theatre, Hofesh Shecter, Marina Abramovich to name but a few. The programme, dedi- cated to dance, theatre, music and visual arts, is divi- ded into sections: “Scene” dedicated to dance and theatre; “DNA” that stands for Danza Nazionale Autoriale featuring young Italian choreographers; “Corpi Resistenti” focusing on the dance scene in the Middle East and North Africa; “Suoni” in which contemporary music merges with experimental rock, classical music and conta- minations between music and poetry; and “Digitalife” with technology at its base. City auditoriums, theatres, museums, clubs and even a couple of former industrial and commercial spaces host the events. The festival takes place from 7 October to 20 November. The dates mark the band’s return here after having performed this summer at the Heineken Jammin’ festival in Florence to a sold out house. “Beady Eye” is the name given to the critically and publicly acclaimed band that was formed by Liam and his fellow musicians – guitarist Gem Archer, bas- sist Andy Bell and touring drummer Chris Sharrock – who chose to stick together to form a new band, when Liam’s brother Noel Gallagher abrup- tly quit “Oasis” in 2009. It has been noted that although “Beady Eye” doe- sn't sound much different from “Oasis”, their debut album “Different Gear, Still Speeding”, which immediately hit UK Charts upon release in Februa- ry this year, displays a joyful, freewheeling spirit that had been lacking on “Oasis” later, more ponderous records.
