public in a transparent manner
• Acts as a database as beneficiary details along with photos
are available
• Details on all the 4 Components viz., NRM, FPS, LSS and ICB.
• All details are entered District wise , Block wise, Watershed
wise and Work code wise
• Additionally, it focuses on physical and financial achievements
as well as uploading before and after work field photos and
latitude and longitude.

PMKSY Works Online Entry Portal - Summary Report
1. Work Code is a system adopted to assign a unique ID number to identity
each work under Watershed Development which never gets repeated.
2. Each work code consists of 28 to 30 alpha numerical characters.
3. The work code helps to identify the Batch Number, Project, District, Year
of sanction of project, Year of sanction of funds, Name of the Watershed,
Component and Name of the work.
4. There is no scope for duplication.

Reaping run off through Recharge shafts
• To recharge the shallow aquifers, which are located below clayey surface
• Shafts of 0.5 to 3 m. diameter and 10 to 15 m deep are constructed and back filled with boulders, gravels and coarse sand. In upper portion of 1 or 2 m depth, the brick masonry work is carried out for the stability of the structure
• Most efficient and cost effective structure to recharge the aquifer directly.
• In the areas where source of water is available either for some time or perennially e.g., base flow, springs etc. the recharge shaft can be constructed.
• Recharge shaft may be dug manually if the strata are of non-caving nature. The diameter of shaft is normally more than 2 m.
• The shaft should end in more permeable strata below the top impermeable strata. It may not touch water table. The unlined shaft should be backfilled, initially with boulders/cobbles followed by gravel and coarse sand.
15
Recharge Shaft
• In case of lined shaft the recharge water may be fed through a smaller conductor
pipe reaching up to the filter pack. These recharge structures are very useful for
village ponds where shallow clayey layer impedes the infiltration of water to the
aquifer.
• The water from village tanks gets evaporated and is not available for beneficial
use. By constructing recharge shaft in tanks, surplus water can be recharged to
ground water.
• Through this technique all the accumulated water in village tank above 50% full
supply level would be recharged to ground water. Sufficient water will continue
to remain in tank for domestic use after recharge.
16
Recharge Shaft
Perforating the casing pipe
Filling with 40mm,20mm jelley & sand
Installing the pipe in bore well
Positioning the RCC rings 17
Recharge Shaft
Continuous drought for 3 years from 2015-16
During the year 2016-17, rejuvenation of abandoned well was taken up in a large scale under NRM works which yielded good results.
Importance of Recharging of aquifer was felt acutely in all watersheds.
Recharge shafts were found to be the cost effective solution in suitable areas

Micro watershed project under Madhanur Block in Vellore District (IWMP-XI/ 2013-14) had been suffering from the heavy flow of runoff water from the nearby Channel during the rainy season without giving benefit to any of the farm
land in this area. The agriculture in the area mainly depends on well irrigation only. The felt need of a Formation of village pond was explained during the Gram Sabha and the Watershed
Committee of the IWMP decided to Formation of village pond under NRM activity. Accordingly, a village pond was created. The water stagnated in the pond to a length of 200 mts during rainy season increased the water level in wells up
to 25 mts from its normal level of 10 to 15 mts. The increase in water level motivated to sow pulses, Groundnut net as first crop and to go for second crop in
a year and it fetched an additional income of Rs.1,00,000/-.
