Jennifer Carvalho

I am a mother of two CCSD students, and I have been very involved in their education. Since 1995 I have practiced law in Las Vegas. For the first 13 years of my career I worked for the Attorney General’s Office and also in private practice. I currently represent children through the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and volunteer as a truancy judge. I also serve on the Commission on Professional Standards (“COPS”) as an appointee of Governor Sandoval. COPS is a regulatory body affiliated with the Nevada Department of Education that is responsible for setting the licensure standards for Nevada educational personnel. Additionally, while my children were at Staton Elementary School I was involved with the PTO and served as president for a two 1 year terms. I believe that Palo Verde is an exceptional school and that Mr. Sweikert and his administration have made great improvements as evidenced by the increase in the graduation rate and ACT scores. I support Mr. Sweikert’s vision and am excited to see the additional progress that can be made.

Tiger Helgelien

Tiger was elected to serve on the Palo Verde School Organizational Team both in the 2016-2017 school year and the 2017-2018 school year and would be honored to serve the school again during the 2018-2019 school year. Tiger is a graduate of Corban University where he earned his bachelors degree in Psychology. He was born in Anchorage, Alaska and was raised by his grandparents his entire life. Tiger with his grandparents, have also lived in South Dakota and Hawaii before moving to Las Vegas after high school. Tiger first became a REALTOR® in Las Vegas in 2006, before the housing bubble and saw first hand the difficulties families faced during the housing crisis. It was Tiger’s goal to start a real estate team of his own and make sure he represented his clients with the highest level of service.

Tiger was appointed by the Anchorage, AK Mayor, Dan Sullivan, to serve on the Budget Advisory Commission, which conducted an organized citizens’ review of the proposed Municipal operating budget, Anchorage School District budget, and other fiscal issues. During meetings Tiger played an active role as member, listening to input and concerns from various speakers, guests, and the public as well as served as secretary.

Tiger, his wife Elizabeth, and their children make family a priority; spending that time together at church, sports, school, the outdoors, cooking, volunteering, and growing their bond as a family. Their son is a sophomore and oldest daughter is a junior at Palo Verde High school and also have one child who attends Sig Rogich Middle School. During his free time Tiger enjoys working on his golf game at the beautiful golf courses in Las Vegas and surrounding areas.

Tiger would be honored to receive your vote to serve on Palo Verde’s School Organizational Team.
