The 2010 Men’s Member/Member wasplayed Friday – Sunday, May 14th – May 16th.There were 42 teams, divided into 7 flightsof 6 teams per flight. Each team within agiven flight played the remaining 5 teams in a9-hole better ball match. Each match wasworth 10 points, one point per hole and onepoint for the winner of the match. The teamthat had accumulated the most pointswithin each flight was crowned as the flightwinner.
At the conclusion ofthe matches, a shoot-outensued amongst the flightwinners. The shoot-outformat was three holes ofstraight alternate shot.Three of the seven teamswere eliminated on the firstshoot-out hole and two onthe second, leaving theremaining two teams to bat-tle for the crown of Member/MemberChampions.
The first shoot-out hole was the eighthhole. The three teams that were eliminatedwere Yezbak/Saltrick, Bell/Hedrick, andPeck/Heckard. The second shoot-out hole,#9, saw the teams of Elliott/Owen andMachent/Wiley get eliminated. That left the
teams of Al Barnett/Ron Vanderklok vs.Dick Zeitvogel/Buddy Jordan for theChampionship.
The final shoot-out hole was played on#18. Al Barnett hit his team’s tee shot wellto the right, enough so that Ron Vanderklokhit a provisional ball. In the meantime,Buddy Jordan hit his team’s shot downthe right hand side of the fairway.Barnett/Vanderklok’s original ball was foundin play; however, it was in the wooded area
right of the fairway. Bothteams’ approach shotsended up short of the green.Mr. Barnett guided his pitchshot up and over the ridgeleaving his team an approxi-mate ten foot par putt. Mr.Jordan’s pitch shot did notmake it up the ridge and lefthis team an awkward putt.Jordan/Zeitvogel’s par putt
came up well short and eventually led to athree-putt double bogey. That left theBarnett/Vanderklok an easy two-putt tosecure the victory.
Congratulations Mr. Barnett and Mr.Vanderklok on becoming the 2010Member/Member Champions. Listed beloware all of the flight winners:
2010 Member/Member Champions: Al Barnett and Ron Vanderklok

Grass Clippings:As I enter my first full golf season, I would like to thank everyone at
Bermuda Run Country Club for making me feel welcome. Over the pastfew months we have made great strides to improve both golf courses. Ihope everyone has noticed the hard work of the Greens and GroundsStaff. We were recently visited by Patrick O’Brien, Senior Agronomistwith the USGA Green Section. He was thoroughly impressed with the golfcourse considering the winter we experienced. Our greens continue toimprove along with the fairways and tees. Over the next few months,we will pay extra attention to what I call “Down the Middle.” Given ourbudget, equipment and staff, the Greens and Grounds Department willfocus much of their attention to the playability of the golf course. Thisincludes: Greens, Tees, Fairways, Bunkers and Roughs. As time and budgetallow, we will work our way to the perimeters of the golf course. Duringthe past few months, I have met many great members and hope to meetmore. At anytime, feel free to contact me with any questions, commentsor concerns.
