• The Eckrohr-Boiler ( manufactured

by BERKES) are a natural circulation

boiler well proven in many plants and

under difficult conditions. They distin-

guish themselves by a robust and

clear design  best fitted for the

demands of power stations or indus-

trial applications. Eckrohr-Boilers are

designed and built for low maintenan-

ce and high reliability.

7 Unheated downcomers

• The pressurized body is made of a

stable framework. Downcomers,

headers and tube walls are welded

together to a gas-tight tube cage.

• This tube cage with its heating surfa-

ce and convection banks stands on

the ground. It is self-supported  by

downcomers in all four corners of the

boiler (corner tubes). Other boiler

types need heavy supporting frames

where they are hung in. Those frames

are not necessary for Eckrohr-Boilers.

BERKES is a EckRohrKessel Gmbh licensee since 2004, who offer its

know-how and technical support for the design of watertube boilers.

Under this license, BERKES has already built and erected 14 boilers.

COMBUSTION TECHNOLOGY

This BERKES technology consists in a cyclonic furnace where both fuel and air are injected

tangentially along its periphery, generating a turbulent boundary that gives favorable condi-

tions for an intense combustion.

This combustion is appropriate for an efficient and clean burn out of both solid or liquid biomassthat can be transported in pneumatic suspension, as well as gas fuels.

BERKES integrates air-cooled reciprocant grates from the best worldwide manufacturers. This

standard mass firing technology has extensive experience running with a wide range of difficult

fuels. The feeding is performed by a hydraulic ram, obtaining an overall extremely high availability.

BERKES manufactures fixed inclined water tube grates under the design of ERK. This standard and

well known technology is suitable for a wide range of fuels obtaining a r eliable and simple solution

with low investment.

This BERKES technology consists in separating the combustion process in prior gasification (fixed

bed updraft) of the solid fuel and a subsequent burning of the gas in the Torsional Chamber. By

this, high thermal efficiency, low emissions and quick load modulation can be achieved for a

wide range of fuels.

Relying on EckRohrKessel´s expertise and experience, BERKES provides Turn-Key solutions for Heat

Recovery Steam Generation (HRSG) plants behind clean gases such as diesel motors or gas turbi-

nes, and in dirty process gases as cement industries and steel mills.

From its beginnings BERKES manufactures its own liquid and gas fossil fuel boilers integrating to

the solution worldwide recognized burner manufacturers.

BERKES integrates vibrating grates (both air and water cooled) from the best worldwide manufac-

turers. The feeding is perfor med by a spread stoker achieving a partial combustion of fine particles

in suspension, obtaining an extremely compact and flexible combustion s olution.

BERKES integrates travelling grates (both air and water cooled) from the best worldwide manufac-

turers. Depending on the feedstock, the feeding can be performed by a spread stoker or by a

pushing hydraulic ram.
