Do I have to be a UNO graduate to host my event at the Thompson Center?No. The Thompson Center is available to the general public as well as UNO students, staff and alumni.

How much does it cost to rent space at the Thompson Center —and what’s included?See our competitive pricing structure on the other side of this brochure. Wedding reservations include the entire first floor of the Thompson Center, tables and chairs, set-up and tear-down, dance floor, audiovisual equipment and other amenities. We do not book other weddings or events during your wedding time.

How many guests can the ballrooms accommodate for a reception?The Thompson Center contains two ballrooms, each with a built-in dance floor. Bootstrapper Hall accommodates 240 guests for a seated dinner. Centennial Hall seats 180 for dinner. When combined with our Hospitality Room, Centennial seating increases to 250 guests.

What is included in the Thompson Centeroutdoor wedding experience?Our wedding ceremony packages include set-up and tear-down of up to 250 padded wedding chairs and an 8-foot ceremonial arch, outdoor audio equipment and all tables needed for your ceremony. One of the Thompson Center ballrooms is available to host the ceremony in case of inclement weather.

What are the indoor wedding ceremony options?Our indoor wedding ceremony package includes set-up and tear-down of all chairs and 8-foot ceremonial arch, indoor audio equipment and all tables needed for your ceremony. Bootstrapper Hall can accommodate an indoor wedding for up to 350 guests theater-style, while Centennial Hall can accommodate up to 250 guests.

May we bring in our own food and beverages?Other than cake, nuts, mints and similar items, all food and beverage is provided by Catering Creations only. Catering Creations menus are available on the Thompson Center website. Catering is billed separately.

Do you provide alcoholic beverages and service?Catering Creations provides alcoholic beverages and bartenders to serve alcohol in compliance with the laws of the State of Nebraska and Douglas County. No other alcohol is allowed inside the facility or on the grounds.

What wedding vendors may I use?You may use whatever vendors you wish for your florist, DJ or band, photographer, videographer, wedding cake, planner, chair cover vendor, decorator, transportation and other services. The Thompson Center can provide trusted references upon request.

Is parking available and is their a fee?FREE parking is available for weddings on UNO’s campus lots.

What event staff is available during my event?A Thompson Center Event Manager is provided at no additional fee for weddings and receptions.

Am I responsible for any liability or insurance?The Thompson Center recommends clients purchase special event insurance (not available through Thompson Center) as the client is responsible for any and all damage, loss or injury by the client, guests or client-contracted vendors, including, but not limited to, theft. We do not require a security/damage deposit.

Is a reservation deposit required?A non-refundable deposit of $500 (applied to balance) is required to secure your date within 14 days of your signed contract. Remaining balance is due within 3 months of the contract date or 90 days prior to the event, whichever is first.

That includes 10,000 square feet of exquisite décor, innovative catering options, affordable, all-inclusive rates and beautifully landscaped grounds that provide an unrivaled setting for outdoor weddings. Only one wedding is hosted at the Thompson Center at any time, so our special places are yours alone. After all, it’s YOUR special day.

Special SpacesAt the heart of the Thompson Center are two grand ballrooms — Bootstrapper Hall and Centennial Hall. Each can host numerous guests at sit-down or buffet dinners. The ballrooms connect to several other unique spaces where guests can enjoy your special day. That includes a hospitality room adjoining Centennial and Severa Parlor, which offers lounge seating.

Our Outdoor CathedralThe Thompson Center’s scenic, private grounds feature a lush canopy of mature trees that form an “outdoor cathedral” for weddings. Flowers, oversized potted plants, winding, paved walkways and wooden benches accent the grounds, which can accommodate up to 500 guests in theater-style seating. The adjoining brick patio offers seating for up to 48 guests on beautifully shaped iron tables and chairs.

Modern DécorThompson Center décor goes beyond the ordinary, thanks to a total interior update in 2016. The special touches begin at the entrance with a columned portico and continue throughout the entire building, centered around a concourse with a 13-foot vaulted ceiling. Modern fixtures, wall-coverings, lighting and and numerous other decorative touches accentuate all the building’s unique spaces.

Catering CreationsCatering Creations is the Thompson Center’s exclusive caterer, providing all food, beverage and bar service. They provide innovative custom menus designed to delight your guests and provide an amazing experience for all. Catering Creations provides event planners who assist you from start to finish and can assist with centerpieces. Many extras, including table linens, cloth napkins, tableware and professional serving staff, are built into the catering price.
