look anywhere else. People think it’s strict at Bellerive but we’re treated like grownups and we have freedoms which I think is good.”

Sophie Fisher is joining our Sixth Form in September in 2013, she said: “I came to Bellerive for school and wouldn’t think about going anywhere else to do my A Levels.”

Lucy Deveney will be returning to Bellerive after the summer to study for her A Levels, she said:“I want to be a vet and the teachers knew that and were really good at helping me get the grades I needed. I always planned on staying here for Sixth Form because the relationship with teachers is different; it feels like we’re one team. My favourite memory and place at Bellerive has to be the chapel, it’s a nice, quiet place to go.”

Diane Stuart’s daughter, Isobel Fry, took her GCSE’s at Bellerive; she told us why she’d recommend us to other parents: “It’s not just about the academic side of things at Bellerive, the pastoral and emotional support my daughter has received is incredible. That support extends to parents as well. The relationship between the students and staff at Bellerive is lovely. It’s not just about results; I think the teachers really do care. I’d recommend Bellerive to other parents, definitely.”

Isobel's father said: “I’m a teacher myself and Bellerive is known throughout the city for the support that the teachers provide. The students are looked after here and the rest takes care of itself. If the students are happy the results speak for themselves.”

Lauren Taylor picked up her GCSE results with her Mum and Nan, she said: “I decided to stay on here for sixth form because I know all the teachers and they know me and where I’m at and when to push me. I think today, results day, will be my lasting memory of my time at Bellerive.”

Sophie Richardson is returning to Bellerive said:“English Literature was definitely my favourite subject at GCSE because I love reading and I’m doing it at A Level as well. I know everyone here so that’s why I decided to stay. I’d say the best bit about Bellerive is how much the teachers know you and push you. My lasting memory of my time at Bellerive has to be our Year 11 leaver’s assembly which was very emotional.”

GCSE NewsWe are delighted with the achievements of our Y11 students in their GCSE exams. Our students secured a great set of results, including an increase in the number of students getting 5 A*- C grades including English and Maths. We were also very pleased with the increased percentage of A/A* grades in many subjects.

Some of our Year 11 students took time to speak to us after their GCSE results and explained why they are returning to Bellerive for the sixth form:

Elizabeth Farrington, who is returning to Bellerive Sixth Form after picking up a clutch of strong GCSE results said “I have decided to stay on here to do my A Levels because I get on so well with the teachers. Chemistry was my favourite subject at school and I’ll be doing it in sixth form as well. I’m thinking about studying that or medicine at university but I’m not sure yet.”

Emily Fusco will be studying her A Levels at Bellerive Sixth Form from September, she said: “Graphic Products was my favourite GCSE subject, I’m considering working in that area in the future. I liked Bellerive and wanted to stay on to do my A Levels. All of my friends are here and Bellerive helps you when you need it. The staff give lots of support.”
