Belledune Messenger
Belledune Skating Club held our annual Ice Show on
March 22, 2014 with an attendance of approximately 200
people. Thank you to all who came out to support our
skaters!!
This year’s award recipients were:
Canskater of the Year: Jenna Young
Canskate Champions: Jeremy Murphy and Chloe Fisher
Most improved skaters: Miah Carrier and Kenisha Guitard
Starskater of the Year: Mya Courier
Competitive Skater of the Year: Andrew Boudreau
Our club works hard throughout the year to provide a fun
learning environment for the skaters. Many skaters have
passed ribbons, badges, and dance and skill tests during the
skating season. Congratulations to all.

VILLAGE OF BELLEDUNE – SUMMER STUDENTS
The Village of Belledune will be accepting applications for Summer Student Employment until Friday, May
23, 1014. You can drop off your resume or application to the Municipal Office, email to
[email protected], or fax at 522-3704. Please include a copy of your acceptance letter with your
resume.
PUBLIC TENDERING ADVERTISEMENTS:
This is to inform you that it was decided at the Village of Belledune April 2014 council meeting, that future
tenders, which require a public tender as per the Procurement Act, will NOT be advertised in the newspapers.
They will be posted on NB Opportunity Network (NBON)

Congratulation to the Village of Belledune employees, Wayne Russell, Joe Lanteigne, Keith
Legacy, Bernard McDonnell, Mark Guitard, Earl Culligan, Shirley Hickey, Nicole Carrier &
Cameron MacLellan (photographer) and the Belledune Figure Skating representatives, Cindy
Doucet and Angela Jalbert, who completed the AED (Defibulator) Course as part of the Heart &
Stroke Foundation – National PAD Program on April 29, 2014 for the Belledune Veteran’s
Memorial Arena.

Congratulations to our daughter Shania Carrier for being invited to join the HOA Hockey 2014 Atlantic Girls
Under 19 summer program. Shania is a grade 12 student at ESN in Bathurst; she turned 18 on April 29/14.
Mom (Darlene Mallaley) & Dad (Norman Carrier) sister (Tamika Carrier) are very proud of you!
The Program involves travelling by chartered bus to a resort in the White Mountains of New England were
she will train and practice for the week. She will then travel to Boston where tournament play begins against
teams from New England. She will be challenged against these teams in what is now Canada's hockey arch-
rival, the USA. ****************************************
Congratulations!! To Grandson, Tyler Gaulton on his $25,000.00 Athletic Scholarship! From his proud
Grandma & Grandpa, Flo & Emile Guitard. Tyler is the son of Julie, who lives in Ont.

The Ladies Auxiliary Durham Branch #77 will hold their “P.J. Night “on Thursday, May 1st,
2014 beginning at 6:30pm. For more information, contact Gail at 237-9195.
Spaghetti Supper
Jacquet River School will be having a fundraiser to benefit the 2014 Grade 8 Class Trip to
Fredericton. A spaghetti supper will be held on Wednesday, May 21st from 4:30pm –
6:30pm. The event will be held at Jacquet River School at 3970 Main Street. Cost is
$7.00/person.

TURKEY SUPPER
Theresa McDonnell is holding a Fundraiser for her niece, Ann Dugas, (from Beresford) to help her
battle cancer. Music will be provided by Yvon Legace & Friends. Supper will be a cold Turkey & Ham
Plate, with all the trimmings! Take out plates are also available.
When: May 25th
Where: Belledune Rec Centre
Time: Music – 3:00pm – 5:00pm
Meal – 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $12.00/adult; $6.00/child

Mothers Day Breakfast The Royal Canadian Legion Durham#77 will have a Mother’s Day Breakfast on

More Figure Skating News… Several skaters attended various competitions, bringing home Silver, Bronze & Merit ribbons. They’ve also won
Silver & Gold Medals in the Star 4 and Pre-Novice Men Categories. Members who attended were: Andrew
Boudreau, Mya Courier, Emily Pethick, Jerica Smearer, Brooke Murphy, Morgan Lapointe & Laylynn Landry.
Congratulations to all. We are very proud of our skaters!
Andrew Boudrea competed at Skate Canada NB sectionals in November 2013, qualifying him to compete at the
Skate Canada Challenge in Regina, SK in December, 2013. He is currently training for an opportunity to
compete at the 2015 Canada Winter games in Prince George, BC in February. Good luck this coming season,
Andrew!!
