Being Human
• What does Jesus teach me about being human?• What is my biggest challenge in being a good
person?• How does Jesus give me hope?• What will I remember in the days ahead that will
help me?
Jesus is Humble
• The Son of God humbles himself to take on human nature.
• At the Last Supper, Jesus displays this quality by washing the feet of the disciples.
• This is a model for us to follow – to serve one another.
Jesus and Prayer
• In praying numerous times throughout the Gospels, Jesus models for us a life firmly grounded in a relationship with God the Father.
• He also teaches the disciples to pray – The Lord’s Prayer.
Jesus and Poverty
• From birth through death, Jesus lived in material poverty.
• Jesus challenges us to consider our relationship with material things and our willingness to do without certain Physical comforts.
The Gifts of Intellect and Free Will
• Intellect - Paragraph 2 of the Pastoral Constitution of the Church in the Modern World describes human intellect as “sharing in the light of the divine mind.”
• Free Will – God gives each of a conscience in order to choose rightly. He also gives us the freedom to choose our own path in life.
The Call To Love and Be Loved
• In his life, death, and Resurrection, Jesus demonstrates to us that we have been created to love.
• Jesus does this through teaching, healing, performing miracles, and finally by dying on the cross for us.
• Jesus says: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.
The Call to Be Stewards of Creation
• As stewards of creation, we are never to exploit creation or use it for our benefit only; rather, we must safeguard it in a way that acknowledges its goodness and preserves it for future generations.
